I would have to agree with this.

I can't decide between:

Stan the Man

Bob Gibson

Albert Pujols

Would also consider The Wiz, Ozzie Smith in the running. Arguments could also be made for Rogers Hornsby, Dizzy Dean, Mark McGwire, and Lou Brock.

... Um... I don't know about that. Pujols' legacy is tainted as a result of his most recent play, but while at St. Louis, he was the best hitter in the game and certainly a better hitter than the Wiz. He also has two gold gloves.

The Wizard was fantastic, but in his 14 years with the Cards, he batted in less than half the runs Pujols did and hit .267 for his career while Pujols is still (even with his most recent seasons) over a .300 career hitter. Of course, Ozzie has 13 gold gloves at the hardest position to field in baseball, so there is definitely an argument to be made for him. I just think Pujols' dangerousness at the plate puts him over Ozzie since Pujols made pitchers basically pitch around him.

I don't know. It's debatable.

I believe baseball is more than just what you do at the plate. And winning a Gold Glove at first base doesn't really mean that much in my opinion.

The Wizard was the Wizard, and he hit respectfully well enough at a position that isn't considered a high offense position.

Pujols was just a hitter. Admittedly not just a power hitter, which gives him a better case than many 1st basemen. But a hitter none the less.

If anything, they're just two sides of the same coin.
