He's a doctor in my hometown now. Life has been good to Tommy Banks.

Technically yes. their hold back program worked well.

That team was absolutely stacked up front on both sides of the ball

Captain Shreve HS.. 1974

1973 but yes, was undefeated and was only behind once. Rod Foppe, Carlos Pennywell, Joel Thomas, Curley White, plus several others.

Of all the teams I've seen that would give them a run
1999 Evangel
1990 Ruston

Old teams I didn't see 1930s Byrd, 1952 Fair Park, 1970s Saint Aug, 1950s Istrouma, 1930s Tallulah, I would of loved to have watched

2000 was when Byrd RB (Nightengale) fumbled out of the back of end zone after breaking a long run against Evangel w

I was at the game and had to go listen to the game on the radio in the parking lot. It was that dramatic.

This record doesn't come close to the awesomeness that was the Port Allen High Pelicans of the 80's. I don't think they were ever even ahead of any team at any point of the game. tGOAT.

Best state championship game was Darius Reynaurd vs Jacob Hester.

Hester had a rushing, receiving, int return and passing td

But Reynaurd ran over and around that evangel D

Weren't those istrouma teams from the 50's the place they started using the roids? If so they had to be pretty good

Not sure about that, but have heard that if an employee had a kid with athletic ability he was transferred to baton Rouge. Not sure what plant did this but heard it several times. Billy Cannon was from Philadelphia Mississippi originally for example.
Over a five year period Fair Park lost 10 games total all to Istrouma once during the season and once playoffs. The 1952 team won after Istrouma was upset by Saint Aloysious I believe.

Eta Byrd played Fair Park on Thanksgiving day every year and 30000 plus would turn out for the game. Those without tickets would listen on the radio outside the stadium. Old times

As a Catholic High alum, I'm well aware how ridiculously good those north Louisiana teams were in the 90's. Ruston beat CHS 52-10 in the state title game, and CHS was stacked that year with the likes of Warrick Dunn, Kevin Franklin, Todd White, David Dellucci (of Arizona Diamondbacks eventually), and many others. West Monroe in 1998 beat my team 35-0 in the State Semi-Finals, and our defense had allowed 42 points the entire regular season, the best defense Weiner ever had statistically.

That 1998 West Monroe team's defense would have contained Ruston's offense, but the difference was WM's offense vs. Ruston's defense. Yes I saw both play.
