This has nothing to do with the thread but the current version of UCLA sucks. I've seen them a few times this year and their offense is an eye sore

very streaky team. i honestly can see them making a run this year if they can catch on fire around mid to late february. they have all the talent, they just need to put it together

i agree. the fact that he took UCLA to 3 straight final 4's with losing a good deal of players every year is one of the most insane feats in recent college basketball but he has lost control of the program. this was supposed to be his saving year

They're top 20 in scoring. They've got a soft schedule down the stretch so they should go on another winning streak.

Sans LSU Hoops..
UCLA is my fav alltime NCAA hoops program. Followed by UNLV and Nova and Cuse.
But, much like Miami Cane Foots, UCLA's majority of it's title hauls were in but a few decades. If asked this question in my youth I'd side with the Wooden dynasty haul and the Harrick title..
As with Bama Foots, Ky Hoops tends to grind out a title here and there across many decades, and varying Head Coaches. And has shown a consistency that UCLA just hasn't matched. Then comes Indiana and/or UNC at either #3 and #4.
Kentucky gets my vote..a true grinder.

UCLA. I laugh when I see Duke fans saying they are the best program of all time.

Everyone focuses on Kareem and Walton but UCLA won its first title w/o a player taller than 6'5" in 1964. They really revolutionized basketball. They played a fast-break, up-tempo helter-skelter syle of basketball when they would just go on a run of 20 points...off of traps and steals and they started the full court press with no pressure to hurry-up because there was no shot clock...they did it anyways...compared to the four-corners of UNC.
"I'm proud of the fact that I won championships with different types of teams. We won three with Jabbar and two with Bill Walton, but those were only five of the 10," Wooden said. "We won in 1964 without a starter taller than 6-5. We won in 1970 and 1971 without a dominating center (Patterson) and we won in 1975 with a pair of guards (Andre McCarter and Pete Trgovich) a lot of people thought would be our downfall. If I'm to be remembered as a great coach, I think it should be because I won with so many different types of teams." - Wooden

Howland had a ton of talent at UCLA. They were by far the most talented team in 2008 and couldn't get it done. Just look at their starting lineup.
PG- Darren Collison
SG- Russell Westbrook
SF- Josh Shipp
PF- Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
C- Kevin Love
Four of those players are current starters in the NBA and two of them are top 15 NBA players. There's no excuse for them getting run off the floor by Memphis in the NCAA tournament that year.

eh i wouldnt call his 2006 and 2007 teams as the best. but i agree he should have won it with the 2008 team. that was the best team to not win it in a long time
i was a freshman in high school that year and i went to the galen center for the USC/UCLA game. USC upset UCLA at pauley earlier that year at pauley and me a couple of my friends were sitting like 3 rows from the court. i believe USC was winning by a couple with like 4 mins left and i remember shouting something like we cant lose to USC again or something like that while darren collison was walking by. after that he looked at me a nodded his head and lead UCLA to like a 8 point victory. while UCLA was walking off the court, darren collison said something to kevin love and they both just looked at me and nodded their head while they walked off. i know this had nothing to do with your post but you got me thinking about a really cool moment i had with the 2008 team haha
