Best thing for a driver fitting is a demo day

They'll have way more shaft options to try

When/where do they typically do those?

Look for schedules on titleist/taylormade etc. websites

Also good to get on the email lists of some of your local clubs as they'll let you know when a vendor is doing one

Not really
yes really,if a high capper has trouble slicing or hooking the ball,he can open or close the club face.

And if a good player prefers a certain ball flight, or never wants the ball to go a certain direction, he can adjust the face.

And you can alter loft and lie angle without having to bend the thing now

I never said it wasn't good for the good golfers,I just pointed out how much it would help a high capper.

I'm a high capper. My R11 has helped me a lot with confidence off the tee. But, I haven't changed anything from the factory settings yet. That could just be because I like where it's set. I might lower the loft, though.

I bought the ap1 almost 2 yrs ago.
Just went back to my old dci 981s. .. For some reason Im hitting mybold ones better.
Can go wrong with titleist

Driver is my weakest club, bought r11 last year.
I don't think it's the arrow, pretty sure it's the Indian,
I'm the worst 4 handicap driver of the golf ball on the face of the earth.

4 handicap and you went with AP1's? That's not something you hear too often, I don't blame you though; I was close to getting those as well, but ended up going with the 2's.

If you're a high handicap, do not do this

Or you could just fix the swing or grip problem that is causing the problem.

I agree with croaka do a demo day. The SHAFT is as important or more important then the head. Plus you can find out which grip you really like.

I would suggest opening the ASP plate (that is unless you hover the driver above the ground).

I was really just hoping to get a lower trajectory.

Right, but when you lower the FCT the face is closed. Unless you hover the club you should open the ASP to compensate.

what loft are you using now AJF?

I used to hit the ball super high but I was able to get the flight down by fixing my swing--not changing the driver/lofts, etc... and I hit a 9 degree

Ever since getting the R11 its gotten a little lower. It's at 9 now. I'm not really overly eaten up with changing it right now.

The right loft is all about your specific swing.

When you get fitted they want the ball coming off at 13*, I believe.
Regardless of whether your driver is 7.5 or 10.5, you want the launch angle to be right. So it's all about being fitted.

(I think all of this is right info. I'm waited to be blasted by a know it all though)

This. If you really want to get technical just google some of the Tom Wishon articles on shaft characteristics. Here's a graphic from the Titleist website based on 155mph ball speed
