For me it's the different styles offense. Spread Option, Power Option, Triple Option, the Air Raid, Veer and Shoot, and your traditional Pro Style. The diversity between each system is so entertaining to me.

In the NFL it's really just your West Coast Offense variations. That's why I really wanted Chip Kelly to succeed in the Pros so hopefully we can see more creativity, but it's just so bland in the NFL

Honestly I'd watch a Maction game before an NFL game. That's just me. The NFL is my Third favorite league behind CFB and the NBA

1.) This was a take from a buddy of mine who works with a sports agency. "I think players care more about winning in college. Because NFL guys move around a lot and have little or no choice where they go, most don't care about the results of the game just their individual performances. They know it's a business and rightfully treat it as such. One of the first things we tell college guys we sign is that your NFL teammates will not treat you like your college teammates."

2.) There are different styles of play. Because of the way the NFL controls the tempo of games, every NFL team pretty much runs a variation of the West Coast offense. Really fast tempo offenses aren't possible in the pros.

3.) The regular season means more.

4.) Going to different stadiums gives you a different experience. All NFL gameday experiences are the same. Most teams have the same basic cheers, and the tailgating is all in a parking lot. Experiencing gameday in Tuscaloosa is different than experiencing gameday in Knoxville.

5.) Your dollars are supporting higher education at your school instead of a billionaire's bank account. That same billionaire will also hold the tax payer and fans hostage instead of paying for his own stadium. Your just a customer to the NFL. I'm not naive enough to say you aren't a customer to colleges, but at least the college can't abandon you after years of support.

So you'll continue watching LSU after they've lost their 3rd game, essentially putting them out of SEC and Natty title contention?

The regular season essentially means nothing in college football after you've lost 2-3 games. You're season is done.

Yes a so will a shite ton of other people. The Saturday afternoon CBS game in November will put 80000+ in the stands and outdraw the TV ratings for the NFL CBS game the next day pretty much no matter who is playing in it.

Dude, I like college football better than NFL. But your reasons are horrible. In fact, I think I like NFL better after reading your post

Can you clarify on this one? Just curious what you're referring to.

I'm fairly impartial, but I lean towards college football. However, some of you that are stating they like college more because of "more passionate fans", "history", "loyalty", etc. obviously grew up in the South where there are only a couple of teams.

To say there isn't pageantry or loyalty amongst the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, etc. is just plain wrong.

Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Bucs? Sure. They are new to the scene and offer little. But there are some major, deep rooted loyalties to the NFL up North.

This is probably reason #1 for me. In addition to the diversity, it seems college coaches are much more willing to take risks; i.e trick plays, fake punts, going for it on 4th down.

Another reason is big game atmosphere, nothing in the NFL comes close to a big time college game.

Also, the average NFL game is really boring, I have zero interest in watching Miami beat Cleveland 17-13. I'd much rather watch some random college shootout where teams are trading turns marching up and down the field and there's a combined 80 points.

Yeah, I'm licking my chops to tune into the Tulsa vs. UAB or Indiana vs. Eastern Michigan game!

Honestly to me, that sounds more entertaining than a sterile NFL game

The networks control the NFL.... one play commercial... touchdown , commercial. Extra point, commercial, kickoff, commercial.... plus the running game is basically a formality.... the players are bigger and faster and stronger than ever yet they still play on the same size field..... college football to me is just as exciting now as it was 45 years ago.... and I used to love the NFL... it's just not as exciting as it once was for an older person like myself....

Exactly. A shitty NFL matchup yields a game in which we'll be lucky to see 3 combined touchdowns.

In a shitty college game, at least one team is scoring 35+

I enjoy both honestly. I grew up loving the Raiders and Alabama unconditionally, so the passion is about the same for me.
