Helwani is reporting this morning that both Usman and Masvidal are in route to Vegas.

Negotiations for Usman vs. Masvidal are done, per sources. All sides agreed to terms. Usman is en route to LV; Masvidal landed earlier. Once at the hotel, they’ll have to take a COVID test and then quarantine while awaiting results. If negative, they’ll fly to AD likely tomorrow.

Oh it’ll go to the ground. Masvidal can’t stop a takedown. He may be able to get a good enough shot in to take the fight, but it’s 80% chance he is taken down and pounded out.

This really has the feel of McGregor v Khabib... Top striker vs ground mauler... And mauler usually wins.

But Masvidal is one of the smartest fighters there is. Can he devise a game plan in a week or has he been studying Usman for months anyway?

Masvidal is a good fighter but usman is on another level. There is a reason one is undefeated and the other is like .500

The Maia fight kills any hope I have although I really would love to see Jorge pull it off.

Usman is gonna dismantle Masvidal. Then Masvidal will lose to Covington and his stock will be gone

Just my prediction

The top three welterweights in order right now are

1. Marty Fake Newsman
2. Colby Covington
3. Gilbert Burns

Burns is extremely impressive and it’s unfortunate his fight got pulled.

Covington was up 3-1 on one of the judges scorecard going into the final round of the Marty fight (one judge had it tied, other judge had Marty up 3-1) until he ultimately got caught after a couple of fake injuries Marty sold to the ref when he was on the verge of going down. It was a damn good fight and could have gone either way, but Marty is still the champ so he’s ranked #1. A second fight between these two is needed.

Journeyman Jorge “Street Judas” Masvidal will get swept and mopped up by all three of the above. Sure he struck lightning in a bottle over the last year with a couple of impressive finishes, but there is a reason why he has double digit losses

Street Judas is just like Nate “Hooked on Phonics” Diaz. They’re popular with the fans because of their thugged out personalities and style, but they’re journeymen with 12+ losses each.

Only reason I’d like to see masvidal win is to see him and Colby fight for the title.

Not sure if we will even see the same Colby without ATT in the picture.

Looks like Masvidal is off to Abu Dhabi.

As for the fight itself, I wouldn't underestimate Masvidal completely. I understand he lost to Maia, but it was a split decision, and Maia is on another planet in submissions and an excellent wrestler as well. The fact that he didn't get submitted by Maia is pretty remarkable, considering Maia had his back if I recall. I'm not the biggest Masvidal fan but the dude can fight so I wouldn't write him off so easily. The double digit losses can be misleading. I'm looking forward to it. Here's to a good fight.

My gripe is that Maia'a wrestling is extremely one dimensional. If you've ever seen one of Maia'a poor performances, he just dives for telegraphed TDs and gets stuffed over and over and looks lost.

Jorge looked like a fish out of water and lost a shot at the title. I do feel he's come a long way since then, but I don't know many guys who have a weakness that glaring that are ever really able to shore it up enough when facing elite competition.

I don't think Usman can finish him, but I do think he can smother him out for 5 rounds. I expect this to look just like GSP/Diaz. I can only hope that when Jorge has a moment or two to strike, he will capitalize, unlike Nick did in the example I used.
