Quite an overpay for a guy that had 1/2 a sack in 17 starts last year

Not really the right metric to evaluate Dexter. He's a great DT, probably the best defensive player on the Giants. But, he wanted a trade and they got a decent return for him.

His pass rush is what used to set Lawrence apart

Giants drafted him 17th overall, got 7 seasons of production, and traded for 10th overall.

For a non-premium position, that is phenomenal return if it is the player for pick straight up. I fully expected the Bengals to get a 2nd or 3rd in 2027 in return.

2 seasons in 7 with over 4.5 sacks.

1 season in college with over 2 sacks (and that was his Fr season)

Ok....

21 sacks and 65 qb hits in his 3 pro bowl years, 0.5 sacks and 8 hits last, by far the worst season of his career. Bengals lose again

So you cherry pick stats from 3 good seasons, ignore stats from three other seasons, and focus on stats from one season where guy was double teamed most of the years because the Giants did not have any other credible DL threats outside of Brian Burns nearly accounting for HALF of the team's sack totals.

I would argue that the look on Dexter Lawrence last season would have been a lot different if Abdul Carter had shown up.

this is the biggest crock of shite I've ever heard. All he did was stick up for his guys and say they should get paid.

Philly, Dallas, and Washington offenses are all ecstatic because now they don’t have to face him twice a year.

Those teams know his value and impact better than the average NFL fan looking up his stats.

It was amazing this bum had the audacity to ask for Lawrence Taylor's #56.

Giants are going to look pretty good this year if they hit it on this draft.

Yeah basically Love/OL with the first one and Delane/Downs with the second would be a homerun.

Guess what team has even less credible sack threats? Their projected starters at DE combined for 7.5 sacks last year. Their next 2 backups combined for 3.0. Oh and Hendrickson is gone. He goes from 1 sack producer (Burns) to 0. There will be no organic rush from the edge to speak of. The double teams will continue

An interior trio of Lawrence with Hill/Allen rotating is pretty great. But if there’s not Chris Jones or Aaron Donald-lite production, or other DL/LBs good enough to feast on preferable matchups, interior DL is a luxury only when the foundation is set everywhere else. That salary plus the $20m/year for Boye Mafe (easily the worst FA signing in the entire league) could have been spent on an actual edge rusher that could be an every play threat. Throw in #10 overall? With the guy only locked down for 3 years??

Good luck to the Bengals. A cellar franchise that’s uncharacteristically aggressive is still a cellar franchise. The fact that they could only get him to tack on 1 year to his deal isn’t a mistake
