Gatorade Duels at Daytona

Race 1 about to get underway.
Big change this year to green/white/checkered finishes this year: in the past they'd have one attempt to finish the race and if the caution came out the race was over; this year they'll try up to three times.

In every race or just the Gatorade Duel? Either way, that's stupid. Next they'll call a "competition caution" with one lap left to make sure the end is exciting.

I disagree. Any race ending under caution is an insult to every type of racing there is.

Can someone tell me what happened to Mark Martin in the 1st Duel? I saw that he dropped out of the pack in the final laps, but I can't hear the audio where I am.
Was it an engine problem or did he just decide to get out of the way and let them race because he didn't have a chance at the win?

looked to me like he just backed off on the white flag lap just incase there was a jumble with the pack he wanted to stay out of it

Mark just got out of the way. No reason to risk being caught up in a big wreck and lose the pole for the 500.
I think I like the change to the GWC rule. I have seen, especially at plate races, they will wreeck as soon as the green comes out and the race is over. Now if the caution comes out before they take the white, they will line up and do it again. Still if they make the white flag and then a wreck the race is over. I am taking a hopeful attitude, but then again they may just wreck two or three times instead of just once, you never know.
