Northwood High School Signing Day Hoax
All of the local huns are knighting for him on Facebook, crying that "Orgeron should pick him up immediately"

Detraveon Brown, a three-star recruit out of Northwood (La.) High in Shreveport, announced at a ceremony Wednesday that he'd be signing with Ole Miss.

However, such an offer from Lane Kiffin's Rebels never existed. ADVERTISING Ole Miss confirmed to KTAL/KMSS on Wednesday afternoon that no scholarship had been extended to Brown and that the school has no paperwork on him. According to the report, Brown decided to sign the fake letter for Ole Miss despite having a legitimate Division 1 offer on the table. When signing his 'letter,' Brown said the coaching staff was a big fan and he was ready to suit up for Ole Miss and excited to represent the Rebels. Rather than being left out in the cold by Ole Miss, it's clear that Brown knew he did not have an offer from the Rebels. Earlier this week, he told 247Sports' Yancy Porter that Ole Miss had pulled a previous offer.

are they sure it had nothing to do with changing coaching staffs?

These poor kids are so consumed with self-image that they will literally destroy their own reputation for a fleeting moment of praise/attention from their peers.
I wonder if he KNEW this would hit national news and did it on purpose hoping for the exposure.

I wouldn't give him that much credit

Our fault for obsessing over what high school kids are doing.
We bit h and moan about younger generations being so entitled and self centered, then turn right around and give them the attention they demand.

Reminds me of the Kevin Hart story.

TLDR Hart had a signing ceremony where he committed to Cal but had never been recruited by them.
became a pretty good comedian anyway, though

For some reason I just feel sorry for the kid. Hope he lands an offer somewhere. Awfully young to be that humiliated.

He ended up signing at UNT (North Texas).
Very strange story.
