They went to something like 4 straight BCS bowls and still people won't go to the games. I go to 2 or 3 Stanford games every year, and it's pathetic how empty the stadium is if they're not playing SC or ND. I don't know why, but people just don't care, no matter how successful they are

Sounds like a marketing problem. FWIW, I live in SEC/ACC country and although I run into the odd Stanford grad at work, I just met my first (non-alum) Cardinal fan ever here.

Maryland sucks. Seriously, Stefon Diggs might be their only legitimate threat. The only teams with a pulse Maryland played this season, they lost.

I like our small fan base. They are mostly intelligent and thoughtful. Not your mouth breathing "FIRE THE COACH!!!" after every loss types. I'm a Niners fan, and the bandwagon is huge and full of people who think they're experts when they are full of hot dogshit. Maybe I have low expectations, but I don't get a boner from a full stadium. I just want the team to be good. I don't expect Cal fans to appreciate that, but Aaron Rodgers isn't walking through that door, fans.

i thought what the Maryland captains did @ Penn St was bush league.

if you don't like the other team... fine.

but you should always have at least an ounce of respect and shake their fricking hands at the coin toss.

That's pretty random, but from this board it seems like SEC fans respect Stanford because of the style of football Harbaugh brought. I myself prefer this to the gimmicky shite I have to watch in Berkeley now. It was very enjoyable watching Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck run pro-style offenses. Now I have to watch a shotgun offense with no snapcount, no audibles, and the same plays over and over again.

Jury's still out on your HC. At least Tedford got the odd recruit. Shane Vereen, Marshawn Lynch, Brandon Mebane and DeSean Jackson are all former Tedford guys in the league. Maybe Dykes is just working with what he's got.
