Oh my god

Norris was dinged 3 spots for not going directly into the pits. That sucks because it could have been a lot more dangerous had he tried.
Driver errs on the side of safety, gains no advantage, then gets penalized.

Oh that's bs, unless they have another view, the replay showed he was right next to light when it changed. No time to slow down and pit.

I only saw the one replay too. Norris was definitely caught in a decision and not trying to do something to gain an edge.
Not sure if they can/have appealed, but until I see something else I think he is getting screwed.

I think the fact that he sped up after he decided not to pit was a problem.

Are they doing this shite on purpose? Seems suspect 2 races in a row.

Ferrari would never do something like this. They are way too proud of a team to try and do something underhanded.
Fernando is faster than you. Good boy.

Sainz spin out was just weird. Well before the turn too on 15. Felt pre-mediated.

I would never put it past a team, but quali was over anyway. Yuki had already crashed, no one else needed to.
Was Sainz just caught up in the moment of crashing or did he see Yuki when it was looking at the turn and jump on the brakes too hard? I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now. Yuki's crash was ending the session anyway.
Leclerc in Monaco was definitely an accident. If it wasn't an accident then Leclerc is an idiot for crashing in such a way. He just needed to lock up into the chicane and the yellows would have taken care of the rest.

Why is this a serious question?
Even if Sainz avoided wrecking, the session was ALWAYS going to be over because of Tsunoda ahead, who is NOT in a Ferrari.
Leclerc's incident at Monaco ruined his weekend.
Sainz could very well take a gearbox grid drop.
Leave the conspiracy posts for the Poli board.

Was Merc the only one doing two outlaps (second one a bit faster) then a real hot lap?
Seemed like it happened at least twice. Assuming they needed the extra lap to get heat in the tires.

Anyone else keeping up with the 24hr of Nurburgring this weekend?
After seeing this I had my hopes up for entertainment tonight but some of it was cut short.
Race stoppage due to rain. Will pick up in the AM. Had some gnarly wrecks happening.

The '94 tangle between Michael vs Damon in OZ was more dramatic than '97 Jerez but he was in the Benneton then. He damn near flipped Hill. But the love Schumacher and Hill had with each other was nothing compared to Prost and Senna. The 80s and 90s was when F1 had a very UFC feel to it.

Sainz didn’t really see Tsunoda when his car started drifting. And Leclerc didn’t know the crash would disqualify him from racing. It may or may not be on purpose but it’s hard to ignore the trend. I don’t post about politics and decline your advice on not posting my theories. It’s exactly what this board is for.

Sainz said that he saw the tire smoke, hoped it was only a lockup, and it was too late to do anything by the time he saw the crash.
The team didn't have enough time to warn about TSU being wrecked in the middle of the turn before Sainz arrived there. Sainz had too much speed to make the turn with TSU where he was. Only other evasive maneuver was down the escape road.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious that you need to really plan out that turn well in advance and even a split second of confusion and cause issue.
Most of the crashes we saw should have been people bailing into the runoff

Fwiw, anyone awake at this time can watch the prerace live stream on F1's youtube channel

It starts before rhe sky broadcast on ESPN. Before covid it was kind of cool because it was somewhat behind the scenes. Showing the drivers parade and paddock area without the tons of commentary Sky can bring.
