DSQ would just means a pitlane start. It's as if he didn't participate in quali.
Could open up the possibility of taking a whole new power unit

DSQ for the whole weekend? Holy shite, didn't see that coming if so.
Yeah, I'm guessing. I'm just checking twitter and seeing some F1 followers mention it.
edited to remove speculation that was incorrect

Damn, on purpose or accident? Discuss amongst yourselves.
Will suck for Hamilton, but imagine the uproar if they let this slide.

If the car is deemed to be in violation, he would be disqualified from todays qualifying session which would put him at the rear for the sprint race. Wherever he finishes in the sprint race +5 positions would be his grid position for the GP on Sunday

No way such an obvious violation would be done on purpose. Guaranteed to get caught.

If? Seems pretty straight forward according to what has been posted
They have the measurements and just need the stewards to say it. Again, I think SWHTF if they allow it through some loophole. Will feed the Lewis is F1 poster boy narrative.

Depends on the reason for the variance as well. A broken element can be viewed differently than a miscalculation.
With the info given though it seems like it doesn't seem like a broken element.

Well the person who referred to the stewards is the Tech Delegate, so you’d hope he’d know the difference between a break or not.
I’m just saying, if he isn’t penalized, its going to just feed the fact that Ham get preferential treatment.

Reports are that Newey has gone to the FIA to complain about Merc's flexi-wing
Could be related to why the DRS now doesn't meet spec

Wonder how long RBR has been sitting on this challenge

This is the perfect week to do it. Prevent him from getting 1-3 pts from the sprint and send him further back for the GP.

If it is deemed a violation he will probably be from pit lane. Will have to break parc ferme to fix it. Possibly Bottas as well

Did RB file a challenge or was this caught in standard inspection? Like when they weigh the car or check fuel?
Posted on 11/12/21 at 4:59 pm to Lsut81
Everything I've read sounds like it was checked after qualifying and referred to the stewards. No RB involvement. But it could be like NFL coaches telling the officials before a game that team A's tight end always holds and to watch for it

Seems Red Bull actually did file a challenge though, but that it was for a flexible rear wing. When Max jumped out of his car after quali he walked over and was checking out Lewis' wing, so clearly RB knew something was up and this was pre-inspection where they would have determined Lewis' DRS opened too wide.
So Lewis may have a violation for his DRS and a violation for a flexible rear wing.

Yeah, post quali inspection.
It seems RBR raised some concerns so it will be interesting to see if the inspections have remained constant or if they put the wing under load and then measured.
Some video footage after the race is being shared that shows Max was measuring the Merc wing post-quali.
Politics are a huge part of F1, but this might end up being one of those great technical pissing matches.
