LINK
I'm sharing the Barstool link as it has a video from WGN embedded and it really is sad to see what kind of shape he is in already. He was diagnosed in January and has already completely lost use of one of his hands and his arm.

Incredibly sad and ALS is one of those truly frightening diseases to think about what really happens as it takes over one's body.

Had a decent WCW run in the late 1990's. Didn't like him in the Horsemen though.

Not a great way to go but Mongo’s philosophy, as explained to Ric Flair, was “I’ve got more money than I have time.” He believed in living it up because he figured that he could go at any moment.

Off a character played by another all time NFL great and former pro wrestler, Alex Karras.

Not sure if sarcastic but I've seen highlights and watched tons of retroactive docs on those teams, I LOVED watching Mongo interviews plus he was a beast on the field

I wish I lived then, brother, though the Saints offense then would've given me fits, Dome Patrol was great though

I forgot which show I was watching when I heard this story.

After buddy Ryan gave his final speech to the bears defense at their last team meeting before they played New England in the Super bowl, McMichael picked up a chair and threw it at the chalkboard and broke the chalkboard in half.

He wasn't happy like the rest of the guys that buddy Ryan was leaving to take the eagles head coaching job.

Dan Hampton
Steve McMichael
Refrigerator Perry
Richard Dent

That’s one hell of a defensive line.

He also seems to have a young daughter about 13 years old.

He’s also a College Football Hall of Fame member from his time at The University of Texas. That always made it difficult to dislike him, even though I didn’t like the 80s Bears.

Absolutely. I can only imagine at some of the times guys like him and McMahon and Walter Payton had out on the town in Chicago of the 80s.

And for the posters in here who didn't get to witness it, yes, that '85 Bears team was unreal. Especially defensively. They were just nasty and Buddy Ryan came up with the perfect scheme that offenses found it nearly impossible to prepare for. 3 guys on that defense went on to become NFL head coaches. 4 if you count Jeff Fisher who was on IR.

Here's a neat fact about that defense and the Super Bowl against the Patriots:
quote:

In Super Bowl XX, the Patriots gained positive yards on only one of their first 16 plays, a 3-yard run by Craig James. The 15 plays that failed to produce positive yards consisted of three sacks, seven incomplete passes and five runs for zero or negative yards.
