Like Paul Pierce?

Players have always flopped to get charges. They do it all over the court and people are ok with it but if an Italian or Mexican do it in soccer, it's ruining America.

Yeah, I knew that, don't know what I was thinkin'
I guess I meant players that come from cultures that are dominated by the game of soccer, like Argentina obviously is. My bad.

Problem with y'all's little hypothesis is that the NBA calls fouls more often when someone flops than when someone flops in soccer. Often, the ref in soccer just says, "play on". If a flop is egregious in soccer, the flopper gets a yellow card.
Several years in the Euro championships, there was a match that ended 9 v 8 because people were even ejected for flopping. That wouldn't happen in the NBA.
NBA flopping is much, much worse because players are rewarded for it.
If you watch matches, particularly in the Premiership, you don't see many players get rewarded for flopping.

You say that as if it's a common occurrence, which it most certainly is not.

I went to the Dynamo game last night.... saw about 4-5 flops BUT what I was impressed w/ is that they went uncalled. The refs were pretty impressive.
NBA flops are bad b/c when it's the right player it always gets called. And as long as the refs keep calling it, the players will keep doing it.

This. fricking idiots on this board don't even watch soccer and claim they know what they are talking about.
The NBA is a lot worse. There is def more flopping in the NBA than in soccer... and the refs in the NBA are awful, which makes it even worse.

No, it's gotten a lot worse...but it will never get as bad as soccer.
As a watcher of both sports, a clippers game is worse than anything I've seen in soccer lately, soccer dives are just a lot more important

The hypothesis is that flopping in the NBA is "going to be worse than soccer", which implies (1) that flopping is a huge problem in soccer, and (2) that the NBA currently has less flopping than soccer and is approaching how bad flopping is in soccer.
The problem is that (1) flopping is NOT a huge problem in soccer, and hasn't been for several years not, and (2) there is much more flopping in the NBA than there is in soccer because there is incentive to flop in the NBA, unlike in soccer.

quote:I agree D-Wade's was worse than Chalmers, but both seemed to sacrifice taking the best shot possible to try to get a foul call. There are certainly much worse flop efforts to cite, but it seemed to me that the success of flopping has changed the way people try to win at the end of games to such a drastic degree that looking for a call seems preferable to making a shot.
I don't really have a problem with this. Players try to draw a foul all the time and sticking your legs out is a time-tested way of drawing contact. I think DWade's attempt was worse than Chalmers, because DWade was wide open and the basket was huge there. Chalmers had an off-balance look and was trying to do his best with what he had.

Your arguments essentially are: (1) Flopping isn't as bad in soccer as it used to be; and (2) flopping in the NBA is worse than it has ever been.
Thus, your response seem to support the purpose for asking the question in the OP.

The a priori assumption is that flopping is bad in soccer and that the NBA doesn't yet have the same "problem".

Flopping is one of the least important issues in soccer today.

Back to this. I'm not insecure about soccer. I'm annoyed by patently false statements and terrible reasoning, however.
If the initial statement had been a comparison between floppers in the NBA getting calls and QBs in the NFL getting calls for getting touched, I'd argue just as vehemently. Would you then have said, "your NFL insecurity"?
It's not about "insecurity". It's about facts.

Meh. Just admit that your thread is retarded and move on.

ETA: You simply could have answered the OP in the affirmative and given your reasoning without the insecure assumptions.
