I went to a few Houston games in the Dome when Ware and Klingler were playing, but was too young to really know what was going on, so this one a few years later sticks out to me:

quote:

HOUSTON 56, NO. 20 SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI 49

MICHAEL A. LUTZ , Associated Press Nov. 10, 1996 12:09 AM ET

HOUSTON (AP) _ Antowain Smith scored six touchdowns, the last a 12-yard run in overtime, to lead Houston to a 56-49 victory over No. 20 Southern Mississippi Saturday night.

The victory kept Southern Mississippi from clinching the first Conference USA title and gave Houston (6-4, 3-1) a chance to tie for the crown if they beat Louisville on Saturday.

In addition to future Super Bowl champ Antowain Smith, Patrick Surtain was the other NFL standout on the field. It was a pretty damn exciting game and really cold weather for Houston. Good times.

What's the first one you remember and were old enough to appreciate?

Texas lost to Rice for the first time in like 20 something years. I had food sickness and threw up the whole night before, barely made it through the game.

Some LSU game when All Star by Smash Mouth was popular. I remember going to the game, and seeing one of my friends from school, and listening to that song on the radio on the way home.

Sounds about right. They tore down the goal posts, I remember thinking it was the craziest thing I'd ever seen

Notre Dame 7, Alabama 0

Nov. 15, 1980, Birmingham, Ala.

A week after falling out of the No. 1 spot in the rankings following a 3-3 tie with Georgia Tech, Notre Dame faced an Alabama team that had suffered its first loss two weeks earlier to Mississippi State.

In front of a crowd of 78,873 at Legion Field, the only touchdown came late in the second quarter on a 2-yard run by Phil Carter (84 rushing yards). Alabama's defense was particularly stingy, yielding just 192 yards.

Offensively, the Tide had chances but twice were held in check on fourth-and-short. The second time came on the final drive when linebacker Bob Crable (nine unassisted tackles) stopped halfback Linnie Patrick for no gain at the Notre Dame 37.

Bryant dropped to 0-4 in his career against the Irish.
