Sun Herald article
quote:

A Mississippi law that allows government and businesses to deny services to same-sex couples will take three home games off the schedule for the Southern Miss baseball team this year.

Stony Brook, a public university on Long Island in New York, was scheduled to play USM in Hattiesburg on Feb. 23-25, but a 2016 executive order by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo got in the way.

Cuomo banned all non-essential state travel to Mississippi on April, 5, 2016, after Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed House Bill 1523, also known as the “religious freedom” bill, into law that same day.

Maybe Stony Brook can do another victory lap instead of playing Southern?

I'm curious how the contract between the two teams to play the series is written up to address this situation. If the team can't make it for weather reasons, that's one thing. But, not making it due to some politician's grand standing is another.

This shite is so stupid.

‘We don’t agree with your beliefs and laws, so we are going to pack up our toys and leave.’

I guess that’s fine, and certainly their choice, but if this isn’t the pot calling the kettle black, I don’t know what is. THEY want freedom and rights for everybody, until someone exercises that freedom to believe in something else.

In men's CBB? In WBB they would send for the first 2 rounds, but not in Men's.

That is why I used Jackson and Biloxi in my example.

Although I would hope on the 100 year anniversary of the NCAA Tournament in 2038 they would use campus sites and play the final in Kansas City. Just a nice touch, old timer thinking.

Regardless of what one thinks of MS’ law, how is it an appropriate response to restrict the freedoms of your own constituents?

Exactly. I'm sure the Stony Brook players are thrilled to be losing games so Cuomo can win points with SJWs.

No it's closed enterprise and you won't be saying this when ISIS terrortists use these stupid laws to enforce their Sharia law "freedoms."
