This isn't analytics, on one hand you have to score from a few yards out and get a two point conversion, and if you fail you still have three time outs to get the ball back.
On the other, you have to stop the other team from making a single first down and then manage to score a TD from 70+ yards away with no timeouts left.
It was a God awful decision

If you miss the 4th down they are backed up and a punt gets you a short field

Again, you would still be down 8 and the best you could do is tie. In this instance, they have a chance to win with a TD.
