I agree with you that all SWAC and MEAC teams should be eliminated like the Ivies. Either fully get in the playoffs or do your Celebration Bowl or whatever it's called foolishness.

I disagree. I don't think there's a team that missed out that deserves to be in over NC A&T. There really are no glaring omissions this season, which is a bit odd. You could maybe say you'd like to see Fordham, Dayton or Duquesne in...but none of them are more deserving over NCAT in my opinion. I think you could make a case for one of them over 7-4 Samford or 6-5 Illinois St, but their selection was all about conference. I think ILST has a better leg to stand on there. The SoCon isn't what it used to be.

ETA: But yeah, Sam Houston got COMPLETELY hosed. JXVLST got a top-4 seed solely because they were runners-up last year...and there isn't a thing the committee can say to convince me otherwise. I'm OK with the other top-4 seeds. JMU is a legit contender, IMO.

Hutchinson at least was reasonable with his answers but he knows they screwed Sam St on seeding.

If you count playoffs, yes. But I assume you mean regular season, so I don't know.

The committee should be ashamed for what they did to SHSU. Keeler looked pissed on TV when they interviewed him and I don't blame him. #5 seed and potential tough game against Chattanooga.

Glad they put Illinois State in, wins over Northwestern and SDSU were better than anyone else on the bubble. They are also playing some good football right now.

Also the SLC should hold a meeting and move to go back to 8 conference games. That league has done some of this to themselves, need to give your teams more chances to build a good non-conference resume.

NC A&T

I thought HBCs didn't participate in the playoffs since they have the Celebration Bowl now.

A&T wasn't the champion of their league

Another good question is how the #1 team in the polls become the #5 seed? Since when reputation trumps having a good season?

NC A&T shouldn't be in either. I'm sorry but if your conference decides not to send its champion and go to a "bowl" you lose that bid.

I'm fine with the SWAC or MEAC occasionally participating in the playoffs, and getting their requisite arse-whipping.

I went back as far as the 2004 regular season. Lost at Sam Houston St. when they (Montana) were ranked #1, 29-41.

That MEAC arse-whipping occurred to nobody's surprise. Maybe Grambling would have had a chance to be more competitive, but guess we will never know.

In good news though, UCA made a comeback to beat a Ill State!!! Maybe the SLC might get a little respect now (probably not).

If UCA beats EWU on the hideous red turf they'll get plenty of respect.

SHSU also has an interesting game with Chattanooga.
