I would say ULM over Bama was a much bigger upset.

Stanford beating 'Sc a couple years ago; Oregon St. beating USC in 2008; all of 'SC's losses last season. I grew up in So Cal; after LSU, UCLA was my favorite team.

No ULM is a D1 school. Bama sucked that year. Michigan waasnt great but they a top 25 team. APP st was a d2 school.

Both great. 15-14 and 35-31 I think?

1974 USC-ND. Notre Dame was up 24-0. USC scores 7 before the half and runs the 2nd half opening kickoff back 102 yards (Anthony Davis). 55 unanswered points. Final 55-24.

Georgia-Clemson 1984. Clemson ranked #2. Leading 20-6 at the half. Georgia tied it at 20 and then went up 23-20. Clemson tied it with a 48 yard field goal with 2 minutes left. Kevin Butler kicked a 60 yarder to win the game with less than a minute to play. (no OT back then).

Only games that I actually saw:

Boise State upsetting Oklahoma in the Fiesta. The comeback, the trick plays ... Probably the best game I have ever seen.

Some 1980's Holiday Bowl game involving BYU. I cannot recall the opponent, but it was completely nuts and very high scoring. This game gets played a classic. somebody help me here!

Texas-USC Rose Bowl. Great game for the BCS title and perhaps the best individual performance I have ever seen.

1984 (ish) Orange Bowl. Miami vs. Nebraska. I think it was 35-34 on a failed 2 pt conversion.

A handful of years ago Arky and Ole Miss played a 6 or 7 OT game that had some great drama. Probably not quite to the level of the above games, though.

Not sure why this is on the rant, but it is a good topic. As far as big games with bigger than life atheletes duking it out, the main one I remember watching was UT-USC championship.

On a selfish note, I'm partial to:
03 - Big 12 championship KSU beating OU. I know its been argued a million times on this board that this was not what got LSU into the championship but it sure jacked me up big time when it happened.

07 - Pitt upsets WVU. Nobody saw that coming and I started watching about 3rd quarter when it looked like it was going to be a game. When that game ended, I was as crazy as I had been for almost any LSU win.

I thought about the Pitt-WVU game but left it off because I am pretty sure that I only considered it great because it up LSU in the NC.

The BC-Miami game with the Flutie to Phelan pass probably deserves mention, too.
