I am amazed that nobody has said any of the ALI/Frazier Fights. They are on a different level than any other fights imo.

Corralles/Castillo 1 is my favorite

Gatti/Ward was great as well. Pretty much any Gatti fight was fun. He didn't know how to fight without taking a beating while doing it. Had a Rocky element to his fighting style.

fight #1 of Bute vs Johnson.

Lucien Bute undefeated supermiddleweight champion
vs Glen Johnson a top ten guy who is not among the champs of the division.

Bute looked slick for 11 rounds. In the 12th round Johnson caught up to him and I think had Bute out cold, but there was some referee with money in his back pocket and Bute was allowed to be considered the winner although out on his feet at the end.

Bute beat him easily in the rematch, which I was not expecting.

What made fight #1 so amazing was that Johnson was head hunting from the get-go and Bute looked dazzling as he hit and ran. Then, of course the BOOM! and apparent saved by the bell.

IBF champ Bute is being protected by his handlers. He is fighting Carl Frosch who just lost to Ward, one of the other supermiddleweight champs, but the fight is in England, so its basically the toughest fight to date for Bute, who has been hosting designated victims.
The best opponent would be WBA champ Andre Ward, who is black and fast.

I don't enjoy watching the third one. Makes me cringe.

I just watched it again. Marvelous Marvin was just built to box. All his weight is up in his shoulders, and yet he is just so sturdy.

Larry Holmes v John "the Beast" Mugabi. Holmes just showed the world how a great boxer is better than a slugger. IIRC Holmes jabbed him to death and basically made the corner stop the fight.

1974. A 32 year old Ali fights a seemingly invincible Foreman. Wins every round. Knocks him out in the 8th.

Ali didn't knock him out. Foreman was just knocked off balance and stood up quickly after that. I don't know why they stopped the fight... seems like another rigged Ali fight to me.

They used to say back then "Ali dance like a butterfly sting like a butterfly". The guy was not a strong puncher and lacked knockout power especially for a heavyweight.

He knocked him out.

Foreman was counted out. A count of ten. These are the rules of boxing.
