Who gives a shite why you pull for a team?
It's an interesting topic.
If someone roots for their hometown teams, the connection is obvious. Otherwise I'd be curious about why they chose the team they did.

Dad use to drive me down to Miami every Sunday from New Orleans to catch the Heat in action. I thank my dad everyday for that. Now we got King James and we take the jet on Wednesday to watch him courtside.
Drove to Miami every Sunday from Nola?
So u would leave on Friday, get back to Nola on Tuesday. And 3 days later do it all over again?

Saints because they're the closest professional football team located to me geographically.
Pelicans because they're the closest professional basketball team located to me geographically.
Braves because they're the closest professional baseball team located to me geographically.

colts- started watching them at 14 when peyton was drafted and been a fan since and still am "not a bronco fan bc he is there now" even going to watch indy @ titans on a thur night game this yr
mariners-ken griffey jr.. enough said
nba- i dont pull for any team, i just enjoy good talent. was a huge mj fan, and now a big lebron fan.

The Rangers are the only out of state team for me that I'm a fan of. Geographically they are the second closest team (5 hours) while Houston is about 4 hours away. My first ever game was at the AstroDome but I went to my first Rangers game in 2001 when I was 10 and it was A-Rod's first year in Texas. I was instantly hooked after going to my first Rangers game and now I've been to at least one game each year since 2001 (except for 2002 and 2005) including 5 of the 6 World Series Games that have taken place at RBIA.

Braves - B/C I watched them 24/7 when I was younger & I've been to a few games @ Turner Field & Chipper was my favorite player growing up.
Rams/Lakers - First NBA/NFL games I ever watched involved both teams, just followed them both ever since.

Ellunchbox, send me the cards. I can get them signed for you.
I am a Cubs can because when we first got cable WGN was on and I enjoyed watching them my h more than the Braves. Took my first trip to Wrigley in 1983 and have typically gone once a year since to catch a couple of games.
Also a Red Sox fan, I guess from watching them on the network game of the week and I was a big fan of Cartlon Fisk, And my dad loved Ted Williams.
My dad loved the San Fran Giants when Will Clark was there and he was at the earthquake game. He then became a Rangers can when Will played for them

I'm a sidewalk Lakers fan for sure. When I was a kid I worshiped Kobe and Shaq.

Heat. 2011 when they got good.
Blackhawks. 2013 when were on that huge win streak
49ers. Even though they lost they seem primed for a run
Giants. 2 WS championships in 3 years locked me up

Grew up in La, but now in Houston.
Astros- one of my uncles scouted for them. He always had the best stories at family gatherings.
Sharks - always loved the logo and when I got into hockey, they absolutely sucked and thought they could use a new fan.

Florida Marlins because I spent my summers in Florida and I went to their inaugural game in 1993. Loved me some Gary Sheffield, Jeff Conine, Chuck Carr, etc. Ended up going to high school/undergrad in Florida. Disowned the franchise when they became the Miami Marlins (hate the city of Miami and ownership, well, you guys know).
Never had a dog in the fight when it came to the NBA until I moved to Louisiana for grad school. Hornets/Pelicans because i love NOLA and I'm a big fan of CP3. I liked the Heat when I was little because of Alonzo Morning, but I wouldn't have categorized myself as a fan, again, because I hate the city.
NFL, don't really care one way or the other. I root for players, not teams.
MLS, Portland Timbers because of how awesome their games are. No MLS franchises in Florida, Louisiana, or Hawai'i so I kind of cherrypicked that one based on the teams I've watched in person.
CFB, LSU. I graduated from there and there is no place on earth like saturday night in Death Valley.

Vancouver Canucks- Pavel Bure
49ers- Jerry Rice and my intense hatred for the Cowboys back in the 90s when their rivalry was big.
LSU- Just remember watching them in the mid/late 90's and being excited whenever they came on TV.
Oakland A's- Todd Van Poppel. Remember having his rookie card thinking it would be worth something later in the future. That dude really shite the bed.

Astros---They were the closest MLB team to me and WIBR 1300AM, "The Team," would carry all their games
Lakers---When I was 6, I watched the Lakers play the 76ers on a Sunday afternoon on CBS in 1987. They were down 52-46 and ended up winning 112-110. This really impressed me, as a six point deficit seemed like a lot to me at the time.
