Playoff Matt Ryan still looms on the horizon, and while you don't need a great defense history shows teams with defenses in the bottom third of the league very rarely make it beyond the divisional round. Since the league expanded in 2002, only twice has a team with a defense as bad as the Falcons' even made a conference title game.
