Sure, Donald sterling is racist. my question is, why do people care so much?
The NBA demographic is dictating the discussion and as such, the sponsors are listening.

As well they should.

The people asking why people care must not know what the NBA is

I wish everyone was this passionate about young black kids laying dieing in the streets across America, going to bed not knowing what a father is, and having so little hope for one self due to this endless cycle.

Yeah it's late and I can't sleep sorry for confusing you

Just giving you a hard time
And plenty of people ARE passionate about what you mentioned. That's not what's at issue here, though.

No, I don't believe they're as passionate about real issues I it's not improving. It's takes them looking at themselves and it doesn't fit their narrative of being a victim.

This is disingenuous. You can't say that folks aren't as passionate when I have seen it with my own eyes.
That doesn't mean that DS should get a pass in the court of public opinion. To suggest so is wrong.

You realize you're talking to a black person right now, correct?
I don't view myself as anyone's victim. But I'm also not going to look the other way when a fool like this opens his mouth.

I am a minority consumer of said pastime.
That doesnt mean you are affected. how is your life worse now than before?

My enjoyment of said game has been tarnished by his comments.
And whether my life is affected is really so far beside the point it merits no mention. What he said was wrong any way you slice it and individuals with such druthers have no place in positions of power in an organization as minority-driven and globally visible as the NBA.
Implying that minorities and the public at large should just let something like this go with no negative repercussions is the height of absurdity.

Meh. Agree to disagree

This is pretty much my view. I try not to associate due to the bad experiences I've had with blacks. However, I would never discriminate or view them as less than human. Black culture just isn't appealing to me.

yep. If people cared more about the culture that breeds this hopelessness and ignorance instead of worrying about what one old, crusty racist said, then they might make leeway into the socioeconomic differences that lead to such disadvantages in life.
People like to blame everything and all the poor test scores/prison stats, etc. on racism and socioeconomic differences, but a good bit of it is on the thug culture as well.

I understand that, but why give racist assholes your time and let them occupy so much real estate in your head? Just ignore them. That's why white people and even many asian people could give a frick when people call them stupid shite. They don't' give the words or ignorant assholes (like Snoop Dog/Lion calling Sterling "whitebread motherfricker") the time of day, thus rendering them pretty meaningless.
