There's no question the playoff committee is a huge step up over the AP/coaches poll. Don't forget the polls, or at least one of them, were included in the BCS rankings.
I wouldn't say they are 3-3, Clemson beating the brakes off of OSU last year 31-0 doesn't scream they got that match up right. It should be interesting to see what happens this year if complete chaos ensues.

You should judge their decision at the time they made it. At the time they decided OSU was a top 4 team, their resume fully supported that conclusion.

Yes starting next year. They were transitioning this so bowl ineligible. Last year they were FBS playoff ineligible
