When discussing a player, if you say he was on the roster, there is a clear implication that he did not contribute anything significant to the team.

Exactly. Though he is a first ballot HOFer, Frank Thomas was "on the roster" of that SOX team that won the WS in 2005. Nobody would deny him a ring because he carried that franchise for over a decade but he hit 200 in limited duty that year and didn't appear in the postseason at all.

Dumb arse kids that had no idea that were 3 years old when he closed out the World Series wrote that headline

I doubt it. Probably AI generated. AI generates stupid headlines like, "XYZ gave perfect three word description of whatever."

The number of words is not important, but AI doesn't know that. That Jenks was on the roster is not as notable and the other things he did. AI does not know that either.

Agreed…it was a one-sentence tweet that announced the facts. There will be plenty of other communication pieces to memorialize his accomplishments and his life.

You got me LOL. That’s why when I wrote something I always got someone else to edit it.

Yeah, it was an announcement not an obituary. People are begging for things to be pissed about. But it was ESPN so no surprise who this anger will come from…

Longer works better for some of the outlets I write for.

Others have a brief word limit.
