Elite pitchers who can't win big games

What do you think it is wirh specific pitchers who are known for crapping the bed in the postseason?
I never understood it. They don't forget to pitch. How do you go from being so dominate in the regular season to a completely different pitcher one the pressure is on?
The fastballs are still the same MPH, the curveball still breaks.
Kershaw and Darvish come to mind, but obviously there are other famous ones

Small sample sizes and baseball's postseason tends to be only elite teams.

There was no pitching to speak of in last night's game from either World Series team. Hard to understand while playing indoors. Astro starter threw 25 pitches in top 1st. Ugly, ugly game.

Some of these guys get too amped up and overdo it. Also the routine of a 162 game season is broken and some people can't adjust.

There's been some talk about the balls being slicker in the WS. No clue if there's any truth to it, but I've heard it mentioned. If true, it would decrease the movement on balls and make them easier to hit.

If MLB got caught using different balls in the postseason than the regular season it would be disastrous. I seriously doubt that happened.

A little off topic maybe, but I recall seeing a reliever regularly hitting 100+ mph in one of the Series or playoff games. Think Astros were involved so had to be a pitcher for Astros, Dodgers, or Yankees. Anyone recognize who I am thinking about ?

Was probably Chapman for the Yanks.

I think the difference is the strike zone is much tighter in the World Series. Greg Maddox walks per innings pitched doubled in the post season. The call off the plate they usually get in the regular season is not given in the Series

How soon people forget kershaws dominating game 1 performance all of a week ago

I agree and this is a valid point with the dome being closed. The nerves are always going to be an issue but I also think the 2-3-2 series has taxed both pens. Last night was exciting baseball but tomorrow we will see a true professional in Verlander. I expect him to get into the 6th maybe 7th inning.
This new baseball also needs to be discussed and it wasn't approved by TD.

Everybody shitting on Kershaw but I think Jansen has been a bigger disappointment. Even in his save in game 4 he gave up a homer.
