Only four days after Rams Hall of Famer Orlando Pace resurrected suspicions about shenanigans at the final walk-through practice before Super Bowl XXXVI, a member of the new Super Bowl champions claims that the Eagles ran a phony walk-through practice before Super Bowl LII to counter any type of foul play.

Appearing on 620 WDAE in Tampa, long snapper Rick Lovato said that the Eagles specifically didn’t run plays like the “Philly Special” at U.S. Bank Stadium.

“We had run that play during a walk-through like two weeks ago,” Lovato said, adding that the Eagles purposefully did not run the play in Minnesota due to concerns that the Patriots may be watching.

“I believe our whole walk-through was just a complete fake walk-through,” Lovato said. “We did it at the stadium. There were certain people walking around. . . . I believe I overheard someone say a lot of the plays we were running weren’t even in the playbook for the Super Bowl.”

But why not take advantage of the opportunity to practice the actual plays in the stadium where the game was going to be played, one day beforehand?

“We already had our game plan set all week for the last two weeks,” Lovato said. “We had two weeks to prepare for that game. A measly walk-through the day before the game, we weren’t going to show anything to anyone, especially being at the stadium.

Why do a walk-through at all if that’s the case?

Teams have done this for decades. They switch jerseys with different position players to throw it off even more.

The Patriots obviously taped the fake practice because that defense looked all sorts of confused out there.

So you don't end up like the Rams where the Pats "magically" knew about red zone plays they hadn't run all year.

As long as Tom and Bill keep winning like they are people will keep screaming cheat. It’s natural.

Why so you know where the clocks are and know what type of surrounding your in

Walkthroughs are always taken so seriously by offenses.

Well, the people screaming it have a point...the Patriots were actually caught cheating at one point.

Do you morons also believe the Cardiff Giant was real?

Boston Herald says Spygate story false, apologizes

BOSTON - The Boston Herald apologized Wednesday for falsely reporting the New England Patriots videotaped a walkthrough by the St. Louis Rams a day before the 2002 Super Bowl.

The Herald apology come a day after a meeting between NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and former Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh produced no major revelations about the team's taping procedures.

Walsh told Goodell he did not tape the walkthrough and had no knowledge that any other Patriots employees did so.

The Herald's story cited unidentified sources and was released Feb. 2, one day before New England's 17-14 Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants.

In the apology, published in the newspaper's Wednesday edition and posted on its Web site, the Herald said the story was based on sources "it believed to be credible."

"We now know that this report was false, and that no tape of the walkthrough ever existed," the paper wrote.

"We should not have published the allegation in the absence of firmer verification. The Boston Herald regrets the damage done to the team by publication of the allegation, and sincerely apologizes to its readers and to the New England Patriots' owners, players, employees and fans for our error."

The newspaper featured a front-page headline reading: "Sorry, Pats." It placed the three-paragraph apology on the back inside page of the newspaper.

I don't remember the Cowboys or Niners being accused of cheating. (For the younger crowd, the Niners were good once.)
