One scenario that could improve the Nets’ chances to acquire Howard is if they win the draft lottery and get one of the top three choices in this June’s draft, which then could be bundled in a deal for Howard. (If the pick is No. 4 or lower, it goes to the Portland Trail Blazers as payment for the Nets’ acquisition of Gerald Wallace at the trading deadline.)

holy shite, what a retarded trade the Wallace deal was for the Nets. they only top-3 protected the pick? srsly?! Billy fricking King

His reasoning was "Well, there are only three players worth getting, so we only wanted Top 3 protection.

As if there isn't a chance that Robinson, Beal, and/or MKG isn't available at 4 or 5.

If I'm another team in the NBA, I wouldn't want DH on my team. He's toxic. frick that dude, I don't care how good he is

along those lines, I found this:

quote:

A team source told ESPN.com's Chad Ford the Nets were willing to part with their top-3 protected pick because there are only three players in the upcoming draft the Nets covet -- Kentucky's Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Kansas' Thomas Robinson.

umm, so what if one of those guys gets past 3 (and I've seen mocks where that's the case) and the Nets have pick #4?

My point exactly.

The Nets have been pretty with trades from as long as I can remember

Then you won't be laughing on account of that not being possible. The best they can do is 6 if the pick is top 3 protected (which I'm pretty sure it is).

Huh? If it's top 3 protected (it is), the best they can do is #1. The worst they can do is no pick.

yeah I got what you were saying, I'm just still in relative shock. you're a sorry arse team with very limited assets, and there's a good chance you just fricked off a lottery pick for a 3rd wheel type guy? that probably could've been had for much less (it was clear the Blazers wanted to go into rebuilding mode and let Batum take on a larger role).

wow. and this is the type of organization Dwight wants to go to? he thought Otis did retarded shite. Billy King actually gave Travis Outlaw a multi-year deal - and then had to amnesty him a year later. and then this shite.

Yes. Just double checked, the trade IS top 3 protected. Now give me one scenario where the Nets/Blazers would get the 4th pick.

They can't. But the best they can do isn't #6. It's #1.

actually, I think he's right. looking at the records, the Nets were 6th worst. so if they don't get into the top 3, I don't think they can get above the 6th pick.

He was clearly referring to Portland getting the 4th pick from the Nets, which isn't possible. If the Nets get the #1,2, or 3 pick, they don't send it to Portland and thus his "LOL @ the Blazers getting a star with the Nets 4th pick" scenario doesn't make sense.

The Lakers need to trade Gasol and Bynum for Howard.

Worry about everything else later.
