KBergCBS The ETO waiver -- meaning Howard wouldn't opt out of his deal for next season -- is in Howard's possession in San Antonio, the person said.

Is this basically a no trade clause in exchange for playing out 1 more full year or just no trade this year for waiving his opt out clause?

Does Otis finish out the season or is he gone on Friday?

Knowing how RDV and Alex Martins operate, I'd suspect they'll let him stay the rest of the year. There's no more damage he can do after tomorrow.

According to Wojo's last 2 tweets, Dwight has said NOTHING to his teammates about commiting for next year.
"Next year was not even mentioned...He told us he was "all in" for this season."

He told the Magic brass he's going to sign the waver and it's in his possession right now.

KBergCBS However, a person briefed on the conversation told @CBSSports that Howard told a Magic official today he would sign the ETO waiver.

And he's got, what, 23 hours to do a complete 180 from what he's been saying for 1.5 years, and actually sign the waiver?
Could happen I guess. As long as he stays in the East, I don't really care. Would just be a monumental shift in his decision making.

Even if it is a last-minute attempt to just NOT get traded this year, I don't care. I love this team and want them to stay together for as long as possible.
If they hustle and play defense like they did last night, they can make the ECF this year. Call me a homer. I don't care.

I guess this mean the NBA Store will have to stop selling the Dwight Howard New Jersey Nets Jerseys. Looks like someone jumped the gun on that one.

I'm good with the "homerism". Not hating at all. But you have to recognize the pending disaster if you get nothing for him, right?

Is that good enough for you, assuming the situation I mentioned?

At this point, I'm fine with it. I've lived with heartbreak from this team before. But this at least gives us a prayer. After next year, Hedo, Duhon's and Jameer's contracts are off the books and they can be major players in free agency. They can get someone to team with him and convince him to sign long term hopefully.

Sounds like management/ownership went to him after his comments last night and said "If you are serious about seeing this team's run out then we won't trade you, but you have to opt in for next year so we can trade you in the off season or before next year's deadline."
Something like that. And Howard is hopefully considering it.

sounds like it

WDE, if we're getting trolled here, come to BR and we can cry over some beers.

If Dwight is trolling on this, he is dead to me.
