If Brees and the Saints beat Brady and the Patriots in the Super Bowl, to what extent does that victory impact Brees's legacy?

He’s in that 7-10 range.

This would put him top 5 IMO

All-time great. But legacy-wise, it'll be impossible for him to surpass Manning and Brady, or even eventually Rodgers, amongst his contemporaries.

Probably not much because the argument will continue for generations on end about the top 5 QBs of ALL-TIME, he'll be top 5 all-time regardless of whether he leads the Saints to victory over the Pats in a Super Bowl if the Saints so advance, should be given credit for at least returning to the Super Bowl, Lord knows A-Rod hasn't accomplished as such.

Well he would have 2 championships.... so it would improve... he would be equal to Eli Manning finally

He's in that 10-12 range right now

Win the SB this year and he's bumped up to 7-10

Where would you rank him if he makes it but loses to Brady

Good question

Would depend a little on how he played in the next 3 games honestly, but probably would move him up slightly

Thing is, it's a double-edged sword or loaded question because even if Brady lost to Brees in a Super Bowl, he'll still have won 5 rings and led the Pats to an ABSURD 8 Super Bowl appearances over a 17 year stretch basically entailing that Brady spent half his entire career (missed 2008) playing in a Super Bowl, unprecedented in the Free Agency/Salary Cap era. In my book, you not only get credit for winning Super Bowls, you also get credit if you advance to the Super Bowl as well if you're that same player. It's the logic applied to Kareem (who played on 6 world champions but also 10 Finals participants in a 20 year career), Magic Johnson (5x world champ, 9x Finals participant in 13 seasons), and LeGOAT (3x world champ, 8x Finals participant in 14 years so far).

He would cement himself too 5.

His two Superbowl wins would be over #1 and #2 Brady/Manning.

I think a Super Bowl win moves him up slightly but I still keeps in the top 10-15 qb of all time range.

As for locally, he will only add to his legacy in Louisiana/New Orleans Sports history as the best ever.

Lol no

Y'all say "of all time" but then proceed to act like Otto Graham, Bobby Layne, and YA Tittle don't count or something.

If you want to say "of the super bowl era" he's still not top 5 but would be very close especially if the Saints win it all this year.

Now that I agree with

They should rename Lee's Circle Brees Circle and put a statue of him up on that podium

Nobody outside Louisiana would argue Drew is as good as Brady regardless
