Unitas is top ten for sure. Look at the history of the game and how it evolved.

No he doesn't because it's because of Baugh you have Unita

What? Youre joking right?

Unitas has higher career qb rating amd more passing yards per game.
Unitas was the more productive qb.
Sammy baugh is a legend because of his
versatility on the football field.

This is where you are out of your league.... You look at books ... Stick to recent college football.... You have zero clue about how the NFL evolved.... You look at stats ONLY......

Oh shut the frick up. I dont just look at stats.

When comparing players from different eras all you have is stats.

Then why are you here? You dont even know what an individual record is in football.
Sammy Baugh was known for his versatility.

You cant tell me were a 7 technique lines up. Just because you closer to dying doesnt mean you know football.

I'm sure someone has already posted the playoff record of all these QB's and said /thread.

Because that really would end this silliness.

So are you going to put Waterfield and Van Brocklyn lower than Jones? As they were the guys who developed the modern pass tree.

I typed Unitas accidentally

Unitas is above those 2 IMO.

So you use team accomplishments to rank individuals?

This doesnt mean youre a more productive qb than another guy that does your scheme better than you.

Unitas was more productive than Baugh. Sure Baugh may have changed the landscape but that doesnt mean Unitas cant surpass him.
If we are only talking about who is BETTER then yeah pick who you want. Best is subject. Production isnt.

He played with far less HOF than Montana. Thats a fact and thats what the discussion was about.

Sure, that's a fact. What your discussion with whatever poster has nothing to do with my counter points towards some of the comments you made which I responded to.

quote:

He isnt a HOF

He isn't but some of these things take time. It certainly appears that he will be inducted soon after being a semi-finalist the year before and a finalist this year. Plenty of people believe it's not whether he'll get in, but when.

quote:

Yeah i dismiss it because the only people on the planet that would Manning's indy team were more talented than Montana's teams.

AND THATS WHAT THE ARGUMENT WAS ABOUT.

The poster said manning playes with more HOF than Montana.

Having trouble understanding some of that but if that was the argument some other poster is making, he'd be wrong.

quote:

Even of you add Faulk its still far less than the 49ers WHICH IS WHAT THE DISCUSSION WAS ABOUT.

With the other poster.

quote:

Talent isnt subjective.

Apparently it is as you completely dismissed Dallas Clark while singing Brent Jones' praise.

quote:

49ers had 8 all pros and manning had 1.

That's an incorrect number. As incorrect as Manning only playing with 1 other Hall of Famer.

quote:

No shite. But there isnt a single statistic that shows montana is better than Peyton except team accomplishments.

Championships count and you'd be crazy to think otherwise. Also, it was a completely different era. I think it's silly to compare statistics from old school to modern age players to determine who was better. That said, I'm not saying it should be completely discounted either. Different rules, different age in the game. Modern medicine and how athletes take care of themselves have come a long ways.

quote:

Why does this matter? Peyton was older than Montana and was putting up alltime seasons.

Reference above.

quote:

Roger Craig won an mvp while on the same team as Montana.

No teammate of peyton manning was ever in the discussion of winning an mvp while on the same team as manning.

Once again, you are incorrect. Edgerrin James was in discussion. He wasn't winning, but he did finish top 5.

quote:

Its not bias.
Manning never had the talent that Montana had around him.

Maybe not however I do feel the argument can be made. Definitely from a statistical standpoint. I think the fact you can't acknowledge that makes you bias.

quote:

Roger Craig accolades.

1 of 3 rbs to lead the league in receptions

1 of 2 rbs to run for over 1000 yards and over 1000 yards receiving in the same season.

Hall of Famer right there.

quote:

Once again the discussion was about manning having more talent than montana. Its clear he didnt.

Wait, I thought it was Manning played with far less Hall of Fame players than Montana?

I think there's a difference. One is subjective, one is not.

Ok. I dont care about your rebuttals. The discussion was which qb had more talent. Montana did by a wide margin.
