He took that quote of context and made a whole campaign out of it.
Dnegs made a goddamn video for his Pokerstars overlords defending the increased rake. it wasn't some individual quote
from his bed, no less
PS straight up fricked over a ton of pros by changing their benefits without honoring the SNE guys who were banking on that rakeback. their entire strategy is face up. they want to frick pros to encourage more fun players to deposit and basically exchange money back and forth among each other (with a bigger cut by PS)
you can't openly take a shot at the pros and then expect the pros to not comment. a guy like Dan Polk has the advantage where he's made his money and doesn't have to rely on grinding, plus he has a voice. he's using that to speak for the players who are getting f'd over

Was he not talking about micro stakes? Pros shouldn't be playing there.
Sounds like there's more to it than I thought. I haven't had time to delve deeper.

i think the rake increase was across the board
they eliminated SNE (before paying guys who were supposed to get the rake back)
they also eliminated high stakes HUNLHE iirc
and they've re-vamped their cash game selection system to eliminate table selection (so no more bumhunting)

That's my biggest pet peeve about the poker rooms here, (moved down from Shreveport last year) not enough tables, if you don't get on a game early during the day of a wkd, you are screwed. If you do though most of the weekend games are easy money and can play pretty big. 1-3 down here plays wayyyyy bigger than say 1-2/1-3 in Vegas plays imo.

Seems like a tough balancing act to retain new players while keeping the regs happy.
But, having an ultra liberal like DNegs giving input on financial and operational decisions is not a route I would take.

vegas = NITS trying to get comps
LC is one of the most active and gambly poker areas in the US. we even get referenced on 2+2 occasionally
florida is #1 rn, from waht i've heard

what does this mean?
buyin was $1M
he only paid 3.5% of that (the other 96.5% was split among backers) so he only gets 3.5% of the profits

That's what I figured.
Who in their right mind backs a poker player in a $1M tournament? The EV can't be good, can it?

He's such a self-absorbed sellout. Not to mention he just rambles in all of his interviews/videos

poker is filled with so many nerds who become super douches thinking they're alphas when they win some money (biggest exception is Dan Colman who looks like a douche but who really rallied against all of that), it's gotta be hard for a closet case like DNegs to feel like he fits in

I've been watching some pretty good poker vlogs on YouTube. They go over hands they play in cash games in LV. Best one I've found is probably Andrew Neeme then Brad Owen. Seem like genuine guys. Neeme has really gained a following over the past 4 months. DNeg is kinda copying him with his new YouTube vlogs

Just met Doug at the wsop.

He wasn't filming anything. He was leaving one of the rooms. Just told him congrats and shook his hand.

So true. A lot of the younger players that became pros before black friday were ex video game nerds/pros. Video game skills (especially starcraft) translated almost too perfectly with poker. Money + grinding for 8-10/hrs a day + never leaving your house + the internet = awesome combo

I like his game. I'm still pissed off that mouth breather Seiver flopped a set of 9s vs Coleman's AA. Good this Coleman didn't pay him off on the river.
