It's a shame. They should have 8 teams and the 5 conference champs make it if they rank inside the top 15.

I said this in another thread, but if the committee doesn't value the CCG much, Mich has some damn good arguments if Wash or Clemson go down and OSU gets in. They've already beaten Wiscy/PSU/Colo and have a 1 pt road loss on a last sec FG and a double OT road loss to the team most people believe is the best in the B1G.

I kinda feel like between Michigan, OSU, PSU, and UW, Michigan is the least likely to get the bid. Assuming the best case scenario for each team on Saturday.

I think they should still have reduced scholarships. They should have gotten the damn death penalty,

The NCAA didn't have a leg to stand on thus the sanctions were thrown out. As heinous as what transpired and as vile as those protecting Sandusky are/were they committed no NCAA violations. Did they commit activity that should have the university sued into ruin in civil court? Yes! Do I think they should disassociate with Paterno and melt his statue down? Yes! Does any member of the current staff or any current players deserve to have their hardwork discredited because of a vile human being and his complacent supervisors? No!

That line of reasoning could be extended to any NCAA penalties...UNC, Baylor, etc. The case could be made that the guys coming in who were not involved in those scandals is innocent and shouldn't get punished, but that's the only way to do it where they actually have repercussions as an institution.

(As an aside, raping dozens of young children and covering it up for years should be added as an NCAA infraction. It has to go outside the core tenets that the NCAA is built upon.)

Those schools "allegedly" violated NCAA rules repeatedly, so not really the same...

The NCAA doesn't have the authority to punish a school for non-NCAA violations. You are comparing apples and oranges, but just calling them fruit and ignoring their differences.

I completely agree, and I'm sure the original ruling came out due to this, but then legal teams butted heads and voila. Like it or not morally, it was the right thing legally.

As I've stated I hope that PSU and all those who allowed it to go on are crippled by civil legislation and penalties. However, you cannot go above the bounds of your authority just because it's morally justified.

Of course they do. The media and money drives who plays in the so called playoff decided by committee.

If that's true (money &a ratings) then why didn't a 1 loss Ohio state team make it last year?

Hell why did Ohio state get passss up on for a rose bowl bid as well if that's the case?

Shows how messed up the system is, just because Penn St lost to the right team (OOC) they will probably get in over a better team who slipped up once. Everyone in the frickin country slipped up at least once except Bama. Either way, you are either saying OSU's extremely close loss to PSU doesn't matter, or Penn St's loss to Pitt AND Blowout loss to Michigan doesn't matter just because they backed into a conference championship game.
