Can't believe no one would want to watch. Good Morning America had been going on all week about all the excitement around the WNBA draft.

I strongly get the sense that the vast majority of ESPN's non-sporting event viewership comes from bars and restaurants that just have ESPN by default on all their TVs.

I watched the NBA G League finals over that trash.

I heard the 3v3 actually doubled investor money. Crazy but true.
I wonder if the WNBA draft was on at the Wimmenz sports bar in Austin.

The league banked over $27 million in revenue in its first year, according to a league source. The money was likely largely from a lucrative media deal with TNT, plus a blue-chip roster of corporate sponsors.

Monday’s WNBA Draft, in which former UConn G Paige Bueckers was selected first overall, averaged 1.25 million viewers on ESPN — down nearly 50 percent from the all-time record set last year, when Clark was the #1 pick, but dramatically higher than any other draft in league history. The previous record prior to last year was 601,000 in 2004, when Diana Taurasi was the #1 pick and ESPN only carried first round coverage.

Last year with Clark it averages 2.45 million viewers

In 2023 (pre Clark): 572k.
I’ll guess it’s right around 1.2 million. Slight bump from 2023 but no where near Clark’s draft last year

Caitlin Clark is the draw when it comes to women's basketball. PERIOD.
there is no "women's basketball boom".... it doesn't exist. it's all fake and created propaganda.
Caitlin Clark is the cash cow.
Lol they just doubled the record for the WNBA draft without Clark. Looks like you dont know what you are talking about

I saw the same thing, which is great for them. None of us watched it and they made money. As it should be, they marketed themselves to the right audience and the ladies got paid accordingly.
The WNBA could learn from that
