Dude went out of his way to not use his first round offensive talent and failed miserably. They averaged less than 19 points per game. Whether it was ego, stupidity, or both, if I’m management of an NFL franchise I would rather look elsewhere

The OP’s analysis is possibly the dumbest thing I’ve seen here in a while- You’re a moron if you think the NFL, a multi-billion dollar industry, gives a shite who your dad is. The guy took Derrick Henry’s production to another level and did it while being saddled with Tannehill. All the players he coached (Titans and Falcons)loved him and respected how hard he worked along with his knowledge of the game. Just because some billionaire (Arthur Blank) who knows nothing about football fires you bc he isn’t happy bc his toy NFL team isn’t winning as much as he wants them to, doesn’t make you a bad coach. At the end of the day, a QB makes or breaks most NFL coaches (see Belichick)

You’re a fricking idiot if you don’t think there are politics at play in the NFL. Also Henry’s production was trending up prior to Smith even becoming OC? Are you saying he was working with Henry while he was a TE coach? No he wasnt you retard.

Your “analysis” here is nothing but emotional womanlike diatribe. You must be Arthur Smiths daughter.

Guy is a fricking nobody who got a coaching job he had no business being offered.

One of the hottest coordinators in the NFL.

Yeah, 30 pts a game his last year with the Titans I believe.
He might get another job. His biggest frickup was never getting a QB to work. He placed his career into DR hands.
And the organization fricked up the Ryan/Watson situation.

Should be an immediate fireable offense.

Select TE #4 overall - Check

The single most overrated player in the league by a wide margin. People who still think he's some world beater being held down by a bad scheme haven't watched games. He can't get open to save his life, he's an awful blocker, and by comparison, Albert Haynesworth went 110% on every snap. I really don't think better QB play will help Pitts much. He is a guy who was just better and more athletic than everyone else in college but never had any refined technique/route running to go with it. You don't just out-athlete guys in the NFL without sharp route running ability.

No gamebreaking ability whatsoever. He's an underneath possession receiver who it feels like a miracle when he makes a play longer than 15 yards.

Smith's offensive scheme was really hampered by piss poor drafting, which he probably had a lot of input with.

Ryan was done anyway they just treated him shitty at the end. The real organizational frick up wasn't pursuing Watson but not pursuing Lamar Jackson.

He had 4 NFL teams offer him to be their head coach after nearly 15 years of rising through the NFL coaching ranks. 4 NFL franchises aren’t offering a guy bc of who his dad is to be their head coach. Maybe he gets a gig as a videographer or a scout’s assistant but not a coordinator or head coach position at the NFL level. Derrick Henry averaged 750 yards 7 TDs and 4.5 ypc his first 3 seasons in the league when Smith was TE coach. Under Smith as OC, Henry averaged 1,750 yards 17 TD’s and 5.3 ypc. Yep, I’m the retard…Take a lap

The resumes of Mike Tomlin, Mike McDaniel, and Sean McVay are nearly identical to Smith’s. Check into their daddy’s. Sounds political

He average 4.9 YPC the year prior to Arthur. A pretty solid season. He averaged 5.1 the following year with Arthur. His TDs increased bc his touches drastically increased ( went from 200 to 300 Carries). Wtf are you even talking about.

ETA: Clearly according to you he is qualified. He should have no issues landing a new gig. Especially given he did so well in his last stint. Maybe even go above .500 against the panthers.

You started a thread claiming the NFL hires their head coaches because of nepotism and Smith had done nothing. Smith had a similar trajectory as numerous head coaches and was instrumental in turning Henry into a Hall of Famer and making Tanehill a pro bowl qb. NFL running backs after 3 seasons of average production rarely explode like Henry did unless you get traded. I just disagree with you man and I’m laying out logical facts. You can call me a fricking idiot and retard all you want, but that doesn’t mean you have a clue what you’re talking about.

took Pitts as my first TE in my fantasy draft this year confident that Ridder would use him multiple times a game as a checkdown/safety net. Boy, was I wrong. He got me some points toward the end of the year, but Jonnu stole a whole lotta points from me this year.

There's only like 3 or 4 TE worth drafting. Pick that position last. It's too weak to care about.

but Ryan in the second year of the offense had to be a better option than Marriota.
Their yes to Watson no to Lamar explanations at the presser were wordy. Makes no sense.

It's an auction draft, so when he came up, I jumped on him since the best tight ends were either keepers or had gotten some big money already thrown at them.
