That's a good point. Most of the cable systems I've seen lately have the Speed channel near the other sports channels, but for the ones that it's not, it's going to be a hindrance. It will hurt it more being away from other sports channels than being near them will help.

Don't know about Speed but B1G network is way up in the channels and I only turn it on when I know an OSU game is on. Every once in a while I will check it on a gameday to see if there is a Michigan/Penn State type game going on

On my cable system B1G is right by ESPNU and Fox Sports Midwest, so its getting more traffic from me than they otherwise would, especially with football season about to start.

Speed is 150 on Dish, which is a great spot--just above the ESPNs and right below NFL, MLB, CBSCS, NBC Sports, et al.

As long as they have some personalities from their anchors that people can relate to and like (a la SVP)
and
no political agenda.

If so, how long do you think it will take for the two networks to be equals?
What does Fox Sports 1 have to do to make that happen?
Live NFL or NBA games? Big-time college football games?
I think they will come much closer to challenging ESPN than CBS Sports or NBC Sports has come.
CBS/NBC's problem is that they didn't have anything to bring viewers over. People went for a week because they hated ESPN, but they had nothing to keep them there. They didn't have live sports that people were interested in.
FS1 will have CFB, NASCAR, golf, MLB, MMA, and more. If they stick to covering actual sports and stay away from hyping stupid stuff like ESPN does, they will become the popular alternative to ESPN by next year.
