Objectively speaking, Jordan is better than James at this point in their careers.

Ridiculous. MJ couldn't even dominate a bunch of amateurs in college enough to be a first overall pick or win more than 1 championship. Meanwhile, Lebron was the best player not just in a rookie draft class, but in the world by the time he was MJs draft age.
To ignore that at the age of 21, Lebron fared better against pro players than MJ did against college players is awful convenient for MJ fans.

quote:All of this is objectively, factually correct and is not subject to opinion. Anyone who disagrees with anything asserted in the quote above is wrong--not subjectively wrong, but factually, objectively, mathematically wrong.
At the same stage of their 30 y/o seasons:
Jordan: 2 Finals, 2 Championships, 2 Finals MVPs, 3 NBA MVPs, and was about to play in and win his 3rd straight Finals
LeBron: 5 Finals, 2 Championships, 2 Finals MVPs, 4 NBA MVPs, and is about to play in his 6th Finals and his 5th straight
By any objective measure, LeBron is better than Jordan at this point in their lives...
Now to read the replies to the post, which I assume are all brilliant.

LeBron isn't better than Kobe or Magic, let alone MJ

He made 3 in a row multiple time.
He also won them

quote:No need to forget. By age 30 James has been in the league longer because by age 30 James has been better. It's the whole point.
Lebron at 30 also had been in the league longer but hey lets forget about that.

Teams based their entire strategy around keeping Jordan away from the ball and/or the hoop
Yeh, rumor has it that Golden State is game-planning for running JR Smith off the 3 point line and double teaming Mosgov in the post. They expect everything else will just fall in place.

quote:Correct. Lebron James from the age of 19 to 22 is way better than Michael Jordan at the same age. This is sort of the exact point being made.
Except LeBron James went to the NBA straight out of high school. Michael Jordan spent four seasons playing college ball at North Carolina.
The point is that if both players had disappeared three days shy of their 31st birthdays, James goes down as a much better player.

So if MJ played in the NBA from 18-20 would his numbers at 30 be any different? frick no they wouldn't. He wasn't even the best college player all his years. Age makes 1000000x more sense than seasons played

3 more years in the NBA wouldn't make his numbers different? Someone just went retard

I really feel Lebrons skill set is closer to Magic than Michael. Here is a comparison of the 2 and yes Magic had better teams.

His championship and titles numbers you retard

If we are going to compare anyone to Jordan then it's Kobe

You have no idea if 3 extra years in the league would have made Jordan better or not, or if he would have went to the Finals or not
this theory is flawed

I think you are addressing the wrong person?

yeah, my fault...that was for lsupride87

So even though he couldn't dominate college and couldn't take his own team to a title(worthy led the title team) and couldn't win in the NBA untill down the road when they gave him pippen and a good team around him, you think he somehow makes the finals at 19?

Posted on 5/27/15 at 8:23 am to lsupride87
Didn't Dean Smith draw up the final play for Jordan and he made the winning shot?
And didn't Lebron not win a NBA Finals till he left CLE for MIA to team up with Bosh, Wade, and Allen?
I never said he would make the finals at 19, I said you don't think 3 extra years in the NBA would have made him better or had him go further in the playoffs earlier than his first finals appearance?
good try tho

quote:no I dont. MJ wasn't close to being ready for the NBA at 18. Going at that age would have hampered his development over going to college. So in actuality it may have hurt him down the road.
