re: Did Louisville Once Again Expose the Elite SEC Defenses?

It exposed Florida's defense. That is all.

Your somewhat right about some spread teams having success against SEC defenses but if you think anyone was playing Bama within 21 last year then you crazy. Bama was wayyyy better last year than this year. I'd say LSU last year is quite a bit better than bama this year.

Gotta love revisionist history. LSU fvcking beat Bama last year yet no one was playing within 21 of them? Make sense.

Pick 6, Onside Kick (with the 2 15 yard penalties), and dumbass INT by Driskel at the start of the 4th Q were the difference in the game.
Seriously, as much as that could've been an even bigger blowout by Louisville, that easily could've been a 1 possession game, even with how Louisville torched FL's defense.
Two possessions within Florida's 10 yard line where Louisville came away with no points plus a fake FG touchdown for Florida on 4th down easily negate any of the abovementioned things you stated.
Louisville dominated that game. How is it so difficult for yal to see that?
Posted on 1/3/13 at 7:34 pm to FootballNostradamus
Yeah but at least we did make the score look closer than it really was.

dude, we kicked their butts...we had a short TD drive, a kickoff return for TD and a long pass for a TD...that was one game where yards gained was meaningless.
Nothing you mentioned has anything to do with WVU's ability to move up and down the field on LSU to the tune of 500+ yards of offense.
Again, nowhere did I try to insinuate that I believed LSU wasn't the superior team. However, if you think WVU wasn't able to move the ball on LSU with relative ease then I don't know what you were watching. You don't go over 500 yards of offense unless you're moving the ball. It's not possible.

If they were able to move with relative ease, why did they not score more points? Did they just decide to stop short of the goal line to make us look good?

I always thought (and I think most agreed) that Oklahoma State was more deserving on paper, but that Alabama and LSU were simply better.

LSU handily beat Oregon and West Virginia last year, two of the best offenses in the country...not sure what data you are using for this opinion.
Yet what you didn't include in that above statement is that WVU and Oregon both put up more points and yards against LSU then any other team LSU played all season including Bama.

The way to beat an elite, and yes I said elite, defense whether SEC or NFL is a heady, very good qb, an OC that is on fire with his playcalling, and a team that is simply all on the same page and are playing with the same intensity and heartbeat. Sometimes, a team simply wills itself to win. If you've ever played the game of football, you know that sometimes there's just nothing you can do no matter how much bigger and faster you are.
Clemson and Louisville were absolutely there. I was as impressed with our defense against Clemson as I had been all year. We fired off the ball and was in Boyd's face all night. The guy simply stood in there and delivered the ball to a spot. Bridgewater was in that zone as well. You can't defend Tom Brady's throws when he's on. A defense can play perfect coverage but a perfectly executed pass will beat it.
There's a reason why the NFL is a quarterback driven league. If you have an elite QB, you have a chance at a Super Bowl. Most of the time you don't see offenses at the college level operate that soundly because they don't have the practice time to get their route timing down. That's hard to do in college because of personnel and limited practice time. However, if an offense finds that rhythm, it can overcome any defense. If a qb and his receivers are in a zone, they can beat an elite defense.
Florida's defense is absolutely elite. They are at least a top 3 defense in the country no matter how you slice it. Louisville's running game was getting blown up in the backfield all night, but Bridgewater found a way on 3rd down.
The old cliche... the team that wants it more wins it 90% of the time.

No haha. I meant Oklahoma State was more deserving than ALABAMA. Obviously LSU was the most deserving of all teams last year to be in the National Championship Game. That much is indisputable.

Think about this for a minute. Last year Bama got into the title game not winning it's conference or even its division over a OSU team that lost 1 game and won it's conference is what's considered a very good conference.
This year Oregon on the other hand loses 1 game and doesn't play for the conference championship and gets left out for a Bama team with 1 loss that did win its conference.
Something is truly wrong with that. A little inconsistency.

The difference is that the Pac 12 is bad this year and the SEC was stacked last year. You can't compare two teams with the same record that played two different years and in two different conferences. Oky State gets to play in the BCS champ if they don't lose to a terrible team. Simple as that. Bama's loss was clearly a better loss than OSU's.
However I do think it's BS that Bama had their chance to beat LSU and couldn't do it, but got another chance when there were other diserving teams.
ETA: LSU and Bama would have absolutely crushed any other teams unlucky enough to have gotten into the BCS champ game last year.

quote:Bama's offense is anemic? Most games this season they were up so big that they just handed the ball off the entire 2nd half.
I was mainly talking about the last 2-3 years when the Alabama's and LSU's have taken over the SEC with their overly conservative offenses and dominant defenses.
You don't have to be an assclown and just throw it up in the air in the 4th quarter when up by 4 touchdowns with 2 minutes to go like a Chip Kelly would do. Asstradamus.

21-14 in your own ghetto backyard is not "handled."
Time has blurred your recollection of this game. Justin Vincent set the tone on the first play from scrimmage and LSU beat Oklahoma like a rented mule. The Sooners were extremely fortunate to lose by only a touchdown.

Jason White ran a 4.2 40 before having both knees removed.
This is pure bullshite...if White was that fast he would have played both ways doubling as a DB. I guess you're gonna tell us he was the pale version of Darrell Green.

This is rich coming from a Choklahoma fan. LSU fans may not like us Bama fans but at least they haven't sank to the level of OU fans.
Texas fan nearly castrated by OU fan in bar fight.

Your opinion. I'm sure you also thought UF would destroy Louisville last night too huh? Thats why they play the game.

You can't just look at losses when it comes to resumes. If i remember correctly Okie St. had 5 wins over top 25 teams to Bama's 1. Bama's regular season schedule last year was worse than this years if that's possible.
