Anti-american announcers calling games for an anti-american sports league letting small hints of anti-american drop on air?

I am shocked!

Aikman tweeted about it:

quote:

I love a flyover but It was odd to see one over a mostly empty stadium but I am an unwavering patriot that loves this country, has always respected our flag, supported the men and women in the armed forces as well as those in uniform who serve & protect and for anyone to suggest

Two dudes have a meaningless conversation with extremely lukewarm takes that may have not even been serious.

Why address this?

There is an article on the homepage of this website.

Joe Buck said a ton of words, but not sure I buy all of what he was saying.

It’s whatever. I never cared for him before and none of this helps change my mind.

They were being sarcastic and imitating someone they heard the night before.

Buck basically said "if you know Aikman, you know he's a conservative" without saying it.

I don't like either of those guys, but I believe this after re-listening to it.

But as for what was said during that rehearsal, which included Aikman saying, “That stuff ain’t happening with the Kamala-Biden ticket” — that was Aikman repeating something from a person on the FOX NFL crew had said the night before:

“Troy, in the microphone, is repeating something that he heard the night before from … an unnamed person on our crew, saying — this person happens to be very far-left — ‘Oh, well, under Biden-Harris, that’s not gonna happen!’ And Troy was repeating that, watching the flyover. So they clipped that, as if he’s saying that, as if he’s a Harris-Biden fan. And he’s repeating something that somebody said the night before! … If you know Troy at all, he was being 100 percent sarcastic.”

Yes apparently the story is Aikman heard a leftie crew member making such arguments and told Joe about them and he was sarcastically mocking that guy as an inside joke between them and the guys in the truck.

Possible deflection? Maybe, but based on their tones it certainly did sound sarcastic and their explanation rings true to me.

It's pretty dry but I thought so too. Doesn't surprise me that the less socially aware wouldn't pick up on it, though. Especially in this age where context and nuance are dying.

I'm also fairly certain they risk more outing themselves as openly mocking leftist views vs. following the media train so I really don't see a reason for them to lie about this.

I admit to loathing the left leaning tilt of pro sports media, but I have no idea why people find this even marginally interesting, much less offensive.

I feel like people were so excited about a hot mic they were willing to make something out of nothing as not to waste the opportunity.
