Devonta Smith = Marvin Harrison

Both are skinny, elite route runners who don't drop passes. Both are quiet and don't have the diva personality of typical elite WRs. Smith is going to be a HOF assuming he doesnt kill someone like Harrison did.

At 165lbs, I’m sure Devonta will be fine in the NFL with all those open lanes to run through and those slower and not as talented DBs running the same speed with him.

Harrison weighed 20 pounds more than Smith and his game was nothing like Smith's. Harrison was more of a possession receiver and not a deep threat burner like Smith. Smith's game is more comparable to someone like Desean Jackson than Marvin Harrison. Harrison was really good at short routes and turning them into big gains with his footwork. Reggie Wayne was more of the down the field deep threat on those Colts teams

Not to discount what Marvin Harrison did. He was an elite route runner. But it also helps to have Peyton Manning as your QB.
If Devonta Smith goes to someone like say...Jacksonville...that could negatively affect his production. However, I do think he has the tools physically and work ethic to be extremely successful.

I think DeVonta will end up having a very similar career to Steve Smith in the NFL.

I see the DeSean Jackson comparisons although I believe DJ was a great returner coming out of Cal.

It’s like you guys don’t even care about how big he is. Ignore it all you want, but a body as thin as him with professional football players that are masters at working out, taking care of their bodies, strong men, he may not last. I think the chances of him not lasting outweighs the chance of him having a long career. The kid had 4 years in an elite weight program and still is undersized. Damn, even TY Hilton outweighs him by 20lbs.
Good luck to the kid, but he’s going to have injury issues. Especially when he goes to a team with less than stellar talent and depth that can’t prop him up like he has at BAMA.
Btw, Steve Smith was almost 40lbs bigger than Devonta.

While I do think Devonte Smith can end his career with similar success to Steve Smith, their physicalities are different.
Devonta is a slim muscle 6'1, 175.
Steve was a more stocky muscle 5'9, 195, and he would fight even his own teammates just for whispering something he didn't like.

Not at all, but using common logic, it literally NEVER affected him when playing against guys that are similar in size to NFL players. If it was actually a problem, then wouldn't that have manifested itself at least once in 4 years in the SEC?

So the scheme, the depth, the other FOUR elite prospect WRs around him, had nothing to do with it? It’s just going to be much the same without those guys around him in a place like Detroit? Give him the ball on screens or go deep up against professional athletes? Nothing BUT professional athletes? At 165-170?

Where exactly was this depth and four elite prospects after Waddle went down? After Waddle's injury, Devonta had 85 catches in 9 games against Power 5 opponents.
