Why can't teams figure this out in the offseason? What after four games made the organization realize that Allen not only was not going to get the job done but needed to be fired immediately?

He saved his job by going 2-2 in the last 4 games last year and the team showing promise. GM goes and spends a lot of money in the offseason, you start 0-4 and look like you may not win a game...fired. Pretty simple really.

Bring Gruden home!

Mike and Mike said the perfect thing this morning. Stop bringing in old washed up veterans and build through the draft. This will take TIME, not going to happen overnight.

If we cant get Gruden, I think we can get Harboragh (sp?) from the niners.

The problem with that lies in the money lost from sucking because building through the draft with how depleted the Raiders are would take minimum 3-4 good drafts. Last year was one.

Not enough time, and McKenzie will be fired at the end of the year, so he had to sign whoever he could get veteran or not, no one wants to play here and he doesn't have time to build through the draft.

It's a lose lose. Whatever, I'm numb to it and have been for 5+ years. I've watched 2 quarters of our games and that's it, with NFL Sunday Ticket. They do something stupid or bad and it doesn't even effect me anymore at all. And it sucks. But God fricking damn, feels like 20 years of just god awfulness with no hope in sight.

People have been saying that for a while now. Just look at their offseason moves. They gave 8 mil guaranteed to Schaub. That's a bad joke.

last year that was the plan. that's why they were sitting on some insane number of dead money

this is a 3-5 year rebuilding project and last year management promised they understood that

Jon Gruden may be the Raiders’ target as their next head coach

quote:

Gruden coached the Raiders from from 1998 to 2001 and then beat the Raiders in the Super Bowl after Davis’s father, the late Raiders owner Al Davis, traded him to the Buccaneers. Gruden has long been viewed as the first choice for Mark Davis as the person who could come back and turn the franchise around.

The question, then, is whether he views Oakland as the right opportunity. Given the current state of the franchise, which hasn’t made the playoffs since Gruden beat them in the Super Bowl after the 2002 season, Gruden may have no interest. But if Davis were to offer Gruden significantly more money than ESPN is paying him, and offer Gruden the authority to oversee the personnel department and pick his own players, it could pique Gruden’s interest. Don’t be surprised if Davis makes a run at Gruden.

And if Gruden says no, Jim Harbaugh’s name is being floated. This could get fun.
