I think he was arrested and thrown in jail because his actions were harmful to an animal. Since horse racing is paramutual betting, it could also be seen as a conspiracy to steal money since this wasn't just a rules infraction, but something pre-planned. Just a hypothesis, not something I know. Jockeys get fined or suspended, or disqualified from a race after a stewards inquiry, and none of those things involve jail time.

Ricardo can’t hold a candle to ole Sylvester Carmouche. Delta Downs has an interesting history of scandalous behavior

Didn’t someone hide in the fog and tried to skip a whole lap years ago?

In Louisiana, especially at Delta and Evangeline, its the norm

I hate to burst your bubble, but its the norm in the entire racing industry. You can choose to focus on Louisiana, but no track or state is that much better than the others.

Tell me the last time a jock was caught with a machine in Kentucky, NY or even California? Id even throw in Florida for arguments sake. Riders at lower tier tracks like Charlestown, Mountaineer, Penn National, and the ones mentioned in Louisiana are getting busted. I'll hang up and listen. Heck, even the Fairgrounds has gotten its act together in the last 20 years. You are completely wrong and off base.

The Fog Jockey

Nothing will ever beat this one. A buddy of mine used to have horses. He saw Carmouche one day in the paddock at the soda machine. He was standing there confused with a hand full of coins. He was Too Stupid to figure what combination of coins it would take to buy a soda!
