Most of that was mentioned in the Deadspin article but wasn't linked.
I love how trusting some people on this site are though. He lied about meeting her multiple times, how they met, and talking to her on the phone, but now he's telling the truth about being duped. Why would anyone believe him short of actual evidence? There's no evidence that contradicts the possibility that Te'o was in on it and with all the lying he's done I'm not willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

It looks pretty clear at this point that the guy was duped and lied about it out of embarassment.
Apparently the roniah guy went to hs with him so he either was obsessed or hated him.

... He's been lying about it for months. Before he supposedly found out about it. He didn't make up the stories about them meeting, visiting, and talking on the phone after he found out he was duped to save face.
And it looks anything but clear that he was duped and lied about it. The only evidence we have is that people knew about the guy faking it, and now Te'o says he was duped. There is no new information since the Deadspin article other than the statements. The "new" tweets that have been revealed were contained within the original Deadspin article.

I've been out of the loop and I've only kept up with parts of the story.
For the camp that believes he mad it all up, what do you think his main goal was? And does the timing of his announcement (of her death, I hear it was in sept but can someone confirm) support the "he did it for the hype" theory, considering back then he or ND was not really on the national radar?
