The pitching is falling apart. It will take more than correa coming back strong (a big if btw) and springer being healthy. We needed deadline starting pitching and big time relief help and we didn't get it.

Literally the worst trade in baseball history. Yes I am very serious!!!

---you must not know Astros history.
They traded away Joe Morgan in '71

Hunch's bullpen usage has been shite lately. Brings in Liriano twice in high leverage spots yet Musgrove throws up blanks out of the pen and gets used for one inning once. Then goes to Gregerson who has been shite all season which puts us out of this game, now bringing in Martes after the goose is cooked.

In some narcissistic way I'm enjoying how bad the bullpen has been. Luhnow did a great job building this team and the farm system. However, he fricking blew it baaaaaad the past 2 years. He's failed to get this team better when there were clear needs. One of the best offenses in the game and you don't feel the need to sure up the shaky pitching staff!? INEXCUSABLE

I disagree. The bullpen as a hole has been shite. He's in a lose lose situation just about anytime he's forced to make a change.

That was a really nice 98 mph high fastball there from Martes.

Everyone in the pen is prone to blow up innings, Hinch has very few options to be confident in

Sorry but this was not Luke's fault. Marwin noodle arms a 3rd out throw to first and then Jake turns the wrong way on the deep fly to Central.

We should have gotten out of that with a 3-3 score

Theres no doubt its been shite but he keeps trotting the same shite out there in situations that they keep failing in. Hell look at Devos usage over the last couple weeks. Hes not putting them in positions to succeed nor gain confidence in the ones (a la musgrove) who are succeeding.

Which ones deserve high leverage innings right now? Musgrove has had a couple good relief appearances, is it time to give him high leverage stuff? Based on Martes' performance against Tampa why should he pitch in big moments? Nobody in that bullpen sans Giles has much business pitching in close games right now.

He hasn't pitched much in the bullpen, but he's looked decent so far, so I wouldn't mind if we did that to give him a shot. He would certainly do better than anyone else right now.

I wouldn't mind it either, but saying he couldn't be any worse than what we are getting doesn't inspire much confidence.

Musgrove deserves them over Gregerson.

Martes/Musgrove certainly deserve them over Liriano particularly with how his last appearance started (exactly the same as his first)

Honestly that might be a good idea to at least try to light a fire under some of our guys that are pitching like shite

My point was Hunch trots out players who have been failing into situations to fail yet for some reason expects them to change. A guy who is succeeding in low level situations gets no chance in high leverage. I think this is enough evidence to classify his bullpen usage as shite.
