Yes, I agree with that

Stassi is safe until the playoffs, but I don't think Hinch will be willing to let go of White or Marisnick come playoff time, esp w Gattis as an emergency C.

They have stated already they intend to have 3 catchers in the post season roster.

3 catchers is dumb. I think McCann and Mandy are our 2 best catchers. Receiving once and lately offensively

Agreed. But if you have 3 catchers I don't see how you keep both white and Gattis on the playoff roster.

Assuming everyone is healthy here is how I think they lineup in post season.

Against LHP:

Springer rf
Bregman 3b
Altuve 2b
Correa ss
Gurriel 1b
White dh
Reddick or marwin lf
Maldonado c
Jake cf

Against rhp

Springer cf
Bregman 3b
Altuve 2b
Correa ss
Gonzales lf
Gurriel 1b
Reddick rf
Mcann c
Kemp dh

No way Hinch has the nuts to DH Kemp.

I think Hinch would be willing to DH Kemp in the playoffs. With one more bench bat on hand, he'll also be looking to pinch hit for matchups (especially at catcher), so bringing in White/Gattis to replace Kemp to face Miller or Hand is something I could totally see happening.

Agreed.

That's why I think Gattis becomes the 3rd C that is never used as a C

Keeping White and Gattis just gives Hinch too many options that outweigh Stassi

Plus Kemp is the worst defensive outfielder by far. Defense matters big time in the playoffs.

So with that making a lot of sense, I wonder how many ABs in innings caught Stassi gets in the playoffs.

Probably none unless it's a extra inning deal.

Totally true. I suspect Hinch might be willing to start Tony in LF at home or in Fenway though. We would prefer that not to happen.

My configuration allows you a pinch runner for the catcher in both lineups with wither Jake or Kemp

Marwin won't ever dh. He's either on the pine or in the field. He's too versatile to dh. If he stays hot he's playing.

Yep. We got Machete because he can handle the running game. We don't want CLE or BOS abusing Stassi.

And I've made my feelings clear on Stassi's shortcomings in calling a game (and so has Verlander lol).

All that said, if we end up in a wc game Jake will start in cf no matter what. Assuming he's full speed.

If I was Hinch I'd consider rolling with Stassi and Maldonado if they have a series with Boston, knowing they are going to pitch Sale and Price multiple times, plus lefty Eduardo Rodriguez will possibly be their #4 SP.

With the Yankees though, the only lefty starters are Happ and Sabathia, and both should line up after Severino and Tanaka.

Against Severino? That's still doubtful, even in Yankee Stadium. In fact, that's a scenario where I could see Kemp DH to get his lefty bat in the lineup.
