Want to point out that Bregman's numbers this year now align pretty well with last year's, higher OBP but less power but a lower BABIP. I wasn't sure he would be able to get going this year but he has proved me wrong, hopefully becoming the type of player we expected.

Did Sipp get DFA'd yet?
I posted these stats after the game last night:
Sipp's last 6 appearances:
4.2 IP
9 hits
10 ER
4 HR allowed
19.29 ERA
This leads me to 2 conclusions:
1) Luhnow once had inappropriate relations with a goat.
2) Sipp has pictures of said transgression.

He's also a gamer and a savvy baserunner. Has displayed a generally improving trend fielding-wise. If he can learn to go the other way better over time, could be a Buster Posey lite for us (hitting wise).
Obviously the better overall comparison is Pedroia though.

Couldn't complain much about that one either haha

I will make a bet with someone. I bet money JL makes some sort of move. Probably will be minor but he will add a BP arm that clears waivers and doesn't help at all.

The Astros are 11 1/2 game up for post-season home field, and were not going to trade Whitley, Tucker, Perez, Alvarez, Martes. Period.
The issue yesterday's DAT had was an expectation of getting a quality starter while holding onto Whitley, Tucker, Perez, Alvarez, Martes.

So now that we won in blow out fashion last night in our first game after the trade deadline, are we officially not melting anymore? I'm just asking so I can clarify.

Assuming everyone is healthy I think the playoff rotation is Keuchel, McCullers, McHugh, Morton. Morton seems like an excellent 4th starter for the playoffs. Just limit him to twice through the lineup. He's been money early in games. Fiers has been great and if he continues it the next two months that would change things. But I'm not sold and prefer a limited use Morton as of now.
And a playoff pen is probably Giles, Harris, Devo, Peacock, Gregerson, Martes. If Martes can get his control in check (a big if) he's got the stuff to be a dominant reliever in Oct. Hoyt is a wild card for me. He's got to figure a lot out, maybe he's tipping pitches. But I don't understand how he can have such great K% and BB% and still be so terrible. I really wanted one more good arm, but alas.
Not sure I agree with it all, but to me the Astros had less to fix than anyone else in the league, and they got a guy to be their specialty lefty out of the pen.
Move Peacock back to the bullpen, and with Devo you have 2 guys who can give you multiple innings and Peacock can actually give you 4+ if need be. Getting a closer would have been amazing (I too worry every game that is 3-2 in the 9th), but no team is complete

I don't think anyone except apparently Jeff luhnow expected to get out of the trade deadline with all 5 of those prospects. I'm done I'm over it but it seems we are going forward with a spooked GM from the kazmir and Gomez trades

Except for maybe the Dodgers... and they went out and got the best player available at the deadline.
As much as I would have loved to add Darvish, I doubt there was much traction between in-state and in-division rivals.
It's hard to really get too pissed without knowing for sure what the Astros would have had to give up to get a guy like Darvish, Gray, or Hand. The price might have been as high as giraffe pussy. Or maybe the deals were right there for the taking and Luhnow balked.

Sounds like the Britton thing was close, and they got left at the altar late. I know you have to have contingencies, but if they didn't find out until 3:30, that isn't much time to get a contingency done, when you think you have the primary
I think healthy the Astros have less holes than the Dodgers, we just haven't seen the Stros healthy in months and maybe won't all year

Here's to hoping that we actually have to worry about said Dodgers, late into October
I just want to see this ENTIRE team actually healthy, going into the postseason. Will be really fun to watch

frick no. Our pen is insufficient and our lineup deserves a much better rotation.

So we had a deal done for Britton without any of those guys? No wonder Angelos blew it up
