DAT 6/24: YFPHA (Garcia) @ DET (Urena)

With a 10-game winning streak and a 2-game American League West lead in hand, the Astros are in Detroit for a 4-game series. The Tigers (32-42, 4th place, 12 back in AL Central) swept 3 in Houston in April, and won the series finale on the same day the Astros put 5 players (Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Martin Maldonado and Robel Garcia) on the COVID-19 injured list.
Luis Garcia (5-4, 2.69 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) starts for Houston tonight against Jose Urena (2-7, 5.79). Garcia pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings of relief and allowed just 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 7 in the first game of the Detroit series in April. Urena, who allowed 7 earned runs and 3 homers in 4 1/3 innings his last start against the Angels last Friday, makes his first appearance against the Astros this season.
The Tigers have won 3 in a row, but they still rank in the 20s in all of the usual team batting and pitching statistics, and they're 29th in Defensive Runs Saved. It's a good opportunity for the Astros to extend the winning streak. Oh, and the Tigers are still managed by A.J. Hinch.

I think over the course of a 162 game season, players and teams don't think much about the "revenge factor". That to me is more of a college football/basketball thing, and is probably overblown anyway.
But I find it hard to believe the Astros don't at least somewhat remember getting embarrassed by Detroit 3 straight at home. Maybe they have a little extra edge going into the series, as if they need it at this point...
Baseball is a funny game. The Astros are due for a clunker--although I would argue game 2 in Baltimore was one, yet they managed to win anyway.

I'd like to think that this offense is too good to have a clunker against the pitching that Baltimore and Detroit offer... but you're right sometimes things just don't click.

The Astros may lose less than 50 games all season……

The Tigers aren't entirely terrible. I mean they're not good by any measure but they're only 10 games below .500 32-42 for a team that won just 47 games in 2019.
Btw, our old buddy Mike Fiers was due to come off the IL during our next home stand when the A's come to town. But to all of our surprise, he's had a set back.

Them being only 10 games under with that crop of position players is very impressive
They are going to really be able to pitch it going forward. Mize, Skubal, and Manning were all top 50 guys and already in the show. They are going to have unique flexibility to spend on bats when they are ready.

You know he's never going to face the Astros again. He's spineless, and his manager knows it.

You also think that you could strike out major league hitters, so... no one cares what you think.
