So I just read the article on TCB about Kratz. Good Lord those people over there are such elitists that try to spin every single thing as great. The article is trying to make an argument that he's more than just a warm body 35 year old back up...
...and then he drops this stat as his best redeeming quality.
Also
Sorry TCB writer, he is the definition of a warm body back up that is just filling in for injured Stassi.
The writer also said this to prove he is of the elite class.

But if there's one thing we've learned, it's that (with the exception of Roberto Hernandez) the modern Astros never acquire guys who will just be "warm bodies"
...and then he drops this stat as his best redeeming quality.

Among 155 catchers at AAA last season, Kratz ranked fifteenth in FRAA, at +4.7 runs above average due to his defense.

ML batting line of .218/.270/.397.

Imagine the consternation among the unwashed masses when it was announced that the Astros acquired Kratz, who's biggest selling point to the cheap-beer guzzling majority of Houstonians is that his name is kinda fun to say with a Sean Connory accent.

Set your mind free from TCB.

I know, I know. I do enjoy it from time to time... and then I read an article like this one and it reminds me why I hate it.

I don't frequent them any longer.

Does anyone else think that Springer should bat lead off, with Altuve second ?
I like Springers home run pop there to start the game and he has just as much speed as Altuve. Feel like George can really up the OBP this year too. Let Altuve use his magic to generate some runs.

There's some decent writers on there but there's a couple mega douches who act like they know absolutely everything. I'm sure the Astros FO did their homework on all the catchers out of options and had them ranked in some way, but it's a backup catcher
I am from Houston and like to drink 8 or 9 domestics while watching the Astros, frick off guy

That line was really what rubbed me the wrong way and the rest of anything he wrote I was automatically pissed off at.

I've been saying his since last year.

George looked really comfortable hitting lead off last year. I would be perfectly fine with that

I doubt it happens but I think it would be the way to go. It helps George work on his obp and let's Altuve do what he does best and just put the ball out there.

I think that's exactly why they want Altuve leading off. When he is cold and missing open grass, he could be a Double play machine.

Plus the way they would have it set up helps utilize Springer's power better.
Tuve- table setter with the least power
Springer- table setter/ more power to produce runs
Correa- super power to produce runs

Post on Climbing Tals that the Astros and Orioles had a trade discussion for Preston Tucker but they died when the Orioles wouldn't give up Gausman.
