I'm not surprised because it could provide a high draft pick if he is signed by someone else. But does the team actually want to pay him $15.8M if he takes it?

I liked him at 1yr/8m better. Post season got him paid, good for him.

Hopefully they can get the pick. I like Rasmus but not at that price

I still believe the end game this offseason is a big ticket OF so I doubt Colby is an Astro in '16. I don't think he risks taking the one-year deal even though he loves it in Houston.

Honestly, this tells me they don't have a problem spending money. I don't have a problem with bringing him back at all.

Chemistry is obviously expensive but in the end, it pays off. Hard to find that with just anyone.

It's really going to be the best spot to upgrade the offense from. There just aren't that many 3B that would be a significant upgrade and they have Reed knocking on the door at 1B.

I wouldn't be surprised if Colby is interested in staying in Houston but I don't think he's interested in signing another 1 year contract. His post season surge should net him a few years. I'm not sure the team is interested in making Rasmus their highest paid player at nearly 16 million so this was probably about the draft compensation and expecting Colby to seek a longer deal.

What we have to think about is where this team wants to commit big money. Remember that Keuchel is likely going to score himself a big contract soon and eventually (although arbitration years buy us some time) Correa could score a mega contract. Springer could get pricey as well.

I really think they are going to spend a bit. And they held back spending $15 million for the new center field deck with an excuse about time frame I don't believe. I think they want to build on this year's success on the field right away with a big 2016 with that extra cash.

I'm still skeptical that the front office goes after a big ticket free agent this year, but it is good to know they are willing to spend a little.

I think they're smart enough to see the opportunity in front of this team. They wouldn't be spending money to establish a contender, the team in place is already a contender. If this team can win a championship the growth from a ticket sales and revenue standpoint would be enormous.

Do they really need to? I, personally, don't think so.

The Astros may or may not be in on Korean first baseman Byung-ho Park. On Friday a mystery team posted the $12.85 million bid to negotiate with him. Writers have been speculating and a number of teams have been eliminated. There are a few teams who haven't been eliminated or mentioned at all.

Phillies, Brewers, Reds, Pirates, Cubs, White Sox, Twins and Astros.

The Reds, White Sox and Cubs have no need for a first baseman given their current situations. The Twins have Mauer playing 1st and still owe him a ton of money. The Phillies still have the Ryan Howard problem.

That seems to leave the Brewers, Pirates and Astros. I don't know why the Brewers would go after a pricey free agent when they seem to be in rebuilding mode. My guess is its the Pirates. They had success with Jung Ho Kang last year.

We're one of the final teams not eliminated from the Park sweepstakes. What do Yall think about him if we are the winning bid?

We would have to trade either gattis or Reed.

I think they could get ABs for all three if they're willing to put Gattis in LF a lot (which is kind of scary). Reed probably won't come up until that Super 2 cutoff also

Has anyone seen a scouting report? I was trying to find one and didn't see much.
