I like the idea of an opener in front of Garcia. I'd roll with Raley and see what you can get out of him.
I do sort of like this, because they have switched their lineups vs. righties and lefties more than most teams.

Pressly is also available (yeah, I know. Don't shoot the messenger)
I like Pressly a lot in a middle inning situation with a few lefties up. His slider is nasty on the lefties.
I don't want him anywhere near a RH hitter like Margot, Arozarnazanenaoanazza, or Adames.

We could possibly see Javier for an inning or two as well? He only threw 30ish pitches last night I think.
Posted on 10/15/20 at 10:26 am to TankBoys32
I think Javier is taxed for the night. His work freed up a full go for Raley, Taylor, and Enoli though.
Gotta find two guys to each take a turn getting through their lineup before turning it over the the backend of the pen. Preferably those two guys can fill up the zone because outside of Arazaurana (sp?) the Rays can get themselves out with swings and misses and soft contact.

James doesn't scare the shite out of you? The dude cannot throw a strike

I wouldn't go to Javier unless we're in extras... I'd rather save him for an inning or two tomorrow or Saturday.
I understand that you have to win today to get to those games, but if you don't win them all at this point then it's all for naught.

Yeah I see. I know you want to feed the hot hand so they've pitched Javier a decent amount in relief during the playoffs but I wish they would've given Garcia some innings to see how he would do. Surely he pitches today.

He absolutely scares the shite out of me.
Need to use them when the shadows (Drink!) are at their worst.

Agreed I wish there was someone else they could have used so Javier could have went today.
I like Garcia’s stuff, but you never know how a guy will react in a pressure spot. Think I’d lean James opener (
) due to his postseason experience and just let him go until you see something is wrong. Ideally maybe a James, Raley, Garcia tandem can get you through 5+
Regardless of what we do on the mound gotta pour it on whoever the Rays put out there to start. I believe their only options to start are a couple lefties that go 92-93 so gotta touch those guys up before you get to their bullpen because the “A” guys for them will be full go

This is really the key.
We aren't going to win tonight with 4 runs.
At least that's where I'd place my money.

Rays are starting John Curtiss.
He pitched a scoreless inning in games 1 and game 3. Do not remember what kind of stuff he has.
He has started three games this season and his longest outing is 2.2 IP

Garcia getting the ball. 2nd big league start, 6th big league appearance, hasn't pitched since September 27th
Legends are made in October, so why not him?

Hopefully we close it out today. Get a few days rest before the World Series.

The good news for whoever wins this series, obviously that will likely be the Rays, the NLCS will at minimum go 6 so the pitching on that side of the bracket will be upside down.
Rays win tonight sets them up in a great spot for the WS

Braves could win next 2 games That would only be 5 games played
And I could care less about the Rays lining up their pitching

Yea I mean obviously theoretically they could, but they aren't going to.
I could not care less either just pointing out how big this game is for the Rays big picture.

Bullpen game on both sides.
Unfortunately we are going against the OG "bullpen game" team.

Garcia is going 3 scoreless. Then he's going to get Dustied.
Posted on 10/15/20 at 2:31 pm to LSUGrad9295
No Kiermaier in the Rays lineup again today. He may actually be hurt. That should theoretically have a detrimental effect on their outfield defense and is something to keep an eye on.
